I think TV ratings are like, a thousand times more important than how many fans show up.

TV ratings would be great for Michigan State at Alabama round 1 playoffs.

I'd have to do the math, but I'm guessing 105,000 tickets times at least $100 each is a lot of money.

Yea and does anyone really think these games would have trouble selling tickets?

Alabama vs Marshall in Atlanta
Oregon vs Baylor in LA
Florida St. vs Ohio St. in (insert whatever NE area stadium you want)
Mississippi St. vs TCU in Dallas

Also 3 neutral site games means a team is on the road for what, like, 4 straight weeks??

If I'm Bama fan I don't buy tickets to that game because I'll wait to travel to round 2.

Did the SEC recently mandate all their teams play a P5 OOC every year or was that just a rumor/future thing?

Chings can you implement a rule where replay officials can, for lack of better term, "simulcast" replay angles? It's like so many times they have one camera angle where you can absolutely tell when the ball comes out but you can't see when his knee hits. Other angle you see his knee down but can't see the ball. Everybody says "whelp! Didn't get it all from one angle. Guess we don't have conclusive video evidence."
Yes you do, dummy. You have indisputable video evidence of both critical events and all you need to do is play them along side one another and compare. It's not rocket science and it continues to baffle me why they don't implement this technique.

Yes, not sure when it goes into effect tho. There was an ESPN article about teams blowing up the phone lines trying to get a game scheduled against KU.  :frown:

I like the idea chings but the first round games need to be played at home stadiums of the higher ranked team.

Getting 40,000 fans to travel to 3 neutral sight games in a row would be difficult for even the bluest of blue bloods. TV ratings would be great but having 20,000 empty seats during a "playoff game" would be terrible.

I'll always and forever want 16 teams

11 confy champs

5 at-large

Home-field advantage for higher seed through to title game

Title game = neutral site.

..........

Limit reg season to 11 games + confy champ game is confy has one. If confy doesnt have champ game they get extra rego season game.

If 5 at-large teams dilutes reg. season too much, then have less at-large, and give byes to top seeded teams.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

will agree if confirmed first round is home game for higher seed.

Disagree.  There will be specific venues ready for which conference has the higher seed.  For example if the Big 12 champ is the higher seed, the game is played in Cowboy stadium, if the SEC it's Atlanta, ACC it's Jacksonville, Big Ten it's Indianapolis, Pac 12 it's Rose Bowl.  If the higher seed is a non Power 5 (like ND) then the game will be played at the pre-determined flex-location (let's say tied with a bowl so Fiesta).

I would like something where the higher seed can pick between two conference venues.  I'd hate to be matched up against a&m someday at cowboy stadium.  Would much prefer arrowhead.

That sounds sexual. Is that how D2 does it?

The 8-team playoff has been getting a ton of traction and seems inevitable, but I really like this concept of a 16-team playoff more.  Gives a real possibility of Cinderella stories (which up to this point has honestly been impossible for smaller schools in FBS football).  Also, removes a lot of the Committee's ability to screw things up.  Just hope it happens during my lifetime.

8 teams

Champs from the Power 5
Highest ranked team from non-Power 5
Two wildcard (two highest ranked remaining teams, but they both cannot be from the same conference)

This means the most a conference can get into the playoffs is 2 teams. Everyone gets a chance. I don't care if this means a Marshall-ish team gets in, if a power 5 team wanted in they should have won their conference.

This above is the recipe for a proper playoff in college football.
My respect for you has climbed immensely!  This is what they should have done before locking this 4 game playoff in for 12 years.  :frown:

Questions:

Chings doesn't 3 neutral site games seem like a lot for the 2 that make the 'ship?

Can we then just ban altogether playing FCS teams? I'm getting tired of that. Especially these November SEC games. There's no reason for Alabama to be playing West Carolina this weekend.

Basically, I'd like SOME form of universal schedule requirements across college football. Like, no more FCS teams.

Clock stopping on 1st down is kinda pointless. Let's get rid of it.
I didn't think of you as one, but now I'm convinced; you my friend is now known as a FOOTBALL RADICAL!  :surprised:

ESPN says Coaches want 8.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/11915335/fbs-coaches-prefer-eight-team-playoff-espn-poll-shows

To be fair, this is mostly a commish of a crapty confy (ACC) doing the talking.

Also, we already have a thread on this (with some curious responses).
