TCU Game
« on: November 02, 2014, 10:31:11 AM »
I'm very excited for this one.  Both teams playing with the playoffs on the line.  Primetime on fox!!  With Gus??!?!?!

I think this will be a very close one.  This season is finally starting to pick up some steam.

I hope we win.

Tough to get excited for a team that has only ever had One great game against a BCS opponent in the history of their program, and that was before they were even in the Big 12.

Keys to victory in my opinion:

Offense:

Establish a consistent run game where we have 3rd and short (not manageble);
Play error free football (which the Wildcats do);
Control the clock (which the Wildcats do);
Make every drive count (preferably touchdowns);

Defense:

Error free, error free.... football;
Limit the big plays;

I am more concerned about going to Morgantown than I am Fort Worth.  I think Gary Patterson respects K-State enough to know this is the type of team that will give TCU nightmares if the Wildcats play their game.

We've struggled to beat TCU when they were terrible so I don't know how we'll fare when they're actually good.

Yep.

This is the first year TCU has had a good QB who can get the ball to their good receivers.  Argument over.

Boykin had an off game against WVU and I am hoping there are some things that our staff can replicate.  Their offense has gotten ridiculously better but Boykin is still a mistake prone player.  They use big plays helps to cover their inability to sustain drives.  We'll still need to score 30+ but if we take away the big plays, we'll be right there.  Our defense will need to keep them guessing as to where Schellenberg is rough ridin' up.

They had the #8 scoring offense in the conference in 2012 and 2013. They averaged 27.2 pts in 2012 and 25.1 pts in 2013. They've scored the second most points in the conference so far this season and are averaging nearly twice as many points per game(48ppg).
