As and IT professional and  :kstategrad: i'd advise you to explain to your pursestrings the importance of business critical processes to be on supported interfaces.  Your XP machine gets an "I <3 U" worm and checks stop going out they'll wish they had.

I haven't upgraded yet....

I want to know what changes this "free" upgrade is getting me....

I read that Solitaire is no longer free as it has been since the beginning of Windows. In Windows 10, the free version of Solitaire is ad based and to get rid of the ads you have to pay. Now I don't really care too much about Solitaire, but what other stuff am I going to have to pay for that I can use for free in Windows 8.1 currently?

it's a full version of windows, Microsoft wants as much OS migration as they can so they can develop more applications and attract developers back.  it's not like a trial version with limited functionality, it's just the first time windows has given an OS upgrade in this model, it's the same as the OSX upgrades for Mac

as far as free games and stuff idk, you will probably have to search for the specific games or applications to figure out which ones have changed. I haven't looked to see if there is a master list or anything

Agreed, a nightly 4+ hour backup has been reduced to 45 minutes by switching to USB 3.0

We are using it to write some pretty simple scripts. Mostly I need to be able to run these scripts and the guy who is writing them decided to use Powershell. But also I am going to write some of my own but it has been forever since I actually did any of that..... and the guys that know more than me suggested to use Powershell.   :dunno: The only programming language I have ever really used is Fortran.
