K-State coaching changes . . .
« on: October 01, 2014, 01:49:58 PM »
so here we are on 10/1/2014.

Since Currie took over he's hired a:

-men's b-ball coach
-women's b-ball coach
-golf coach
-cross county coach
-tennis coach
-xc coach

Isn't the Crew guy retiring after this year?

Leaving only Snyder, Fritz, Hill and Rovelto.

My opinion on their status:

Snyder:  In outlast Currie mode

Fritz:  Seat has to feel a little warm

Hill:   After last years cratering, I am sure his seat has to feel at least a little lukewarm.   :dunno:

Rovelto:  I guess as long as Currie can talk up the occasional Olympian Cliff has got a job for life.  I don't get it myself, but maybe Currie just doesn't really care.

I believe every hire he's made so far has had head coaching experience. I just don't see Currie taking a risk on a hot shot coordinator whenever the football hire rolls around.

Hill's seat should be considerably higher than lukewarm. It's at least simmering.

Didn't he win conference two seasons ago?

yeah, double K, Kristi Knight is still around. Last year stunk but I don't think Brad is on any sort of hot seat. The job of Olympics sports coaches is to be respectable, and not embarrass the department off of the field. For baseball, volleyball, and women's basketball the more seats you sell the safer you are, Brad and Suzy oversee programs that sell tickets, and stay out of trouble. Brad is likely going to have to win more, there is a large gulf between what happened in 2013 and 2014, he needs to live in that gulf. Cliff Rovelto is one of the most respected coaches in the world, what's there to get? He's gone from making stars like Ed Broxterman and Nathan Leeper; to having stars, like Alyx Treasure and Erik Kynard, come to him. We had 7 freaking t&f Olympians in Athens, 7!!!

I'd like to see some trophies going into the trophy case in track.  But it's probably a numbers game, the men did pretty well last year though.   So, like I said, if we want to keep talking Olympians and the occasional strong finish in conference than Cliff is fine.

I don't really follow KSU baseball unless we're awesome but why would Hill's seat be warm? Didn't he help win Titletown like 2 years ago? I'm fine with that.

Laughing stock of the league last season after everyone expecting us to win it. There were reasons why, but we had no business getting 10th.

Sure as hell felt like flood aggie's club team could have finished above us though.

Exactly. Last year was a disgrace. First Big 12 team to ever go from first to worst.

First the Royals overcoming 29 years of failure, and now this. Life is good for us.
