A bike for Freddy
« on: September 16, 2014, 12:17:52 PM »
https://www.facebook.com/BigPoppiBikes

We are going to make Freddy the coolest customized bike in town, complete with a handmade head badge that will be Fred's face. Any local artists want to put any design work on the frame before we clear coat it?

tldr; Call or stop by Big Poppi's Bicycles to donate money towards a new bike for Goofy Freddy!

Big Poppi's has set up an account for Fred McGee for a bicycle to replace the one that was stolen from him a few weeks ago. You can go in and say "I want to donate (such and such amount) to Fred's account." You can also call in and donate via credit card over the phone.

ALL money collected will be used for the following items:
1 - A reasonably priced (mid-range) bicycle
2 - A light for riding at night
3 - A bell (Freddy loves his bell!)
4 - Some kind of visual customization to make the bike recognizable
5 - Future maintenance / repairs / upgrades

Big Poppi's will be working with MTS Custom Coating to ensure that Fred's new bike looks like no other bike on the face of the planet. Easily recognizable in case of any future disappearances.

Melanie, Aaron, and Jeff at Big Poppi's are graciously donating a few pairs of warm wool socks and some nice riding gloves so that Fred will be able to use his new bike throughout the colder Fall weather. They are also going to minimize labor costs and discount items as much as they reasonably can.

Please share this message. Make it viral. Let the internet work its magic.

Come on Manhattan... RALLY 'ROUND FREDDY!

That was my favorite picture text that I've ever received.

I stopped by Big Poppi and made a donation today. They already have at least one entire sheet of notebook paper filled up with names and donations of $20+. He really is loved by the community. It's awesome.

I doubt there will be "change" from their plans.  I'm sure Aaron will take care of any extra money and set it aside for future repairs and maintenance.  Aaron is a trustworthy guy.

They need to get him a lock too. I love Fred as much as the next guy but he's got to make sure he locks his bike up.

Worked in Aggieville for 3 years and absolutely loved Fred.

He would come in at 11am on a random day, order some chicken tenders, then play war with you for like 2 hours.

Came to post the fund closing.  If you still have money burning a hole in your pocket, BLOC does some good work for developmentally disabled people.

It sounds like they are going to do some sort of unveiling ceremony.
