Why bother watching again.  Schlitzenbeckler and Harry Truman are slow and can't tackle.

Watch at 1:14:11 as Mueller is tackled and the ref watches and no call.   :shakesfist:

Saw that on the replay, egregious really.

I have a HFBIQ question here, observe this play
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=-1JMB79LMwU#t=1539

WR runs right at the umpire and forces him to run forward with into Truman's line.

Obviously, theres no flag on this kind of action, but it seems like a really sleazy move to make.  Wouldn't you always try to get the ref to jump around and screen for you?  Is it just a case of "Truman shouldn't have bit on the QB run and not let his man behind him"?  Whats the U's directive there? If a WR is running right at him, does he have to move?

It looks like Schellenberg is the help over the top. Not a good play by Truman or Schellenberg, a nice call by Mark Mangino and a good job by Iowa State's QB recognizing and exploiting the mismatch of Truman on that WR/ heads up route running.

One of my favorite moments (even stood out to me at the time) is at about 43:15 of the video.  ISU had just scored on the gimmick play and the camera focuses on a K-State player (not sure who) on the sideline who is very obviously thinking: "That is the last f-ing time these guys will score on us."

I just watched the first quarter and the last quarter and if we can play like that for a full game we'll go to the NC.

We need to be better in the red zone than we were in the first quarter. We need to turn those field goals into touchdowns.

Sure. My optimistic self is saying that after we got to the red zone twice and then three times with ease, there was no reason to open the playbook so we didn't try much. Would explain why we scored with ease when we got there in the 4th.

My pessimistic self thinks my optimistic self is making stuff up to make myself feel better. My pessimistic self is generally right.

I think we were trying all kinds of stuff, because we knew we could just run it in doing what we love. Good opportunity to test out a bunch of redzone passes to see if they are ready for the big show.

It just comes down to the offensive line and receivers ( ) keeping their focus and remembering the snap count. It also comes down to Waters being consistent in the passing game and hitting receivers on short to intermediate routes.

We run everything. Sometimes we run terrible plays just because all we've done is run good plays so far. Get ready dork.

Sometimes we run pass plays when we know you are weak against the run.

Sometimes we pretty much tell you exactly what we're going to run and then we run that play.

Having watched the KSU - IS game now, I have some take aways.

Your offense looks very similar to ours although you have more of an emphasis on passing.

Your defense is disciplined and aggressive.

Cameron Artis-Payne (44) is going to give you fits running between the tackles which will make you load the box, freeing up Nick Marshall for his dynamic play action incompletions.

For KSU to be able to win this game they better be up big by the half because Auburn ' s overall superior size and depth will wear you guys down. Auburn will own the fourth quarter on both sides of the ball.

This will be a damned good game.

Yes it is. Tackling skills are lacking but they do attack the ball well.

The best part of this post was dynamic play action incompletions.    :billdance:
