WR corps or lack of
« on: September 07, 2014, 10:54:29 AM »
                 Rec    Yds    Avg    Long    TD
Tyler Lockett    6    136    22.7    57    0
Zach Trujillo    1    32    32.0    32    0
Curry Sexton    3    21    7.0    12    0
Deante Burton    2    19    9.5    12    0
DeMarcus Robi   2    17    8.5    9
Glenn Gronko    1    8    8.0    8
Kody Cook    1    6    6.0    6    0

So no andre davis, no judah jones, and Burton dropped close to six passes. Lockett is obviously injured, he had two runs after catches that he should have burned past the defender and simply slowed up. I'm guessing a foot injury? If we aren't going to use Davis as a counterpart to Lockett then we need to use Sexton more as Burton can't catch for crap. For a team that was suppose to be a pass heavy offense this year we have one guy who can ball.

We really have some problems if our trainers are working a hamstring for a foot injury  :sdeek:

It was evident in the 1st quarter of the SFA game that our WR could not get open.

Waters isn't going to make it through the Auburn game if they can't figure out a way to get open.  I hope twelve days is enough for TLBL to heal up or we may not score ten points.

Why after five seasons is this an issue?

How after five seasons of Snyder II can our WR corp be TLBL and then a bunch of slow bumblers or guys who can't catch?

If I'm John Currie I'm asking for  some of that recruiting money back to put into the regular athletic operating budget.

Look through 2011 at our recruitment of the WR position, it is complete garbage. I'd want money back.

It appears Bill has decided all juco's -- like freshmen -- need a redshirt year. I'm thinking that might not be the best recruiting strategy.

This.  Davis and/or Jones need to step up.  We have vertical game besides Lockett.  Waters won't last another game with that type of offense.

I think Burton will be a good player, he was able to get separation at times, he just had too many drops.

We need a healthy Lockett and a 2nd guy to step up as another threat. Burton is the most likely candidate or hopefully one of the guys like Jones or Davis figures things out soon. Sexton is fine as the 3rd guy and/or Cooks.

I agree Waters won't last if we use him like Klein, which is essentially what the ISU game turned into. I appreciate what he did and he has improved a ton in his ability to run the ball, but he doesn't have that extra 30-40 pounds and we will be throwing Hubener out there if this continues.

The coaches deserve whatever they get.  But LOL if they think Jake will do anything against auburn's defense with his legs.

There is no excuse for not having a juco wr worth a crap in the roster.

There's no excuse for having a walkon as our backup qb either.

I've watched you post this, in slightly different forms, many times over the past couple of weeks.  The answer is the same answer that we have had since 1998, when the last "group" of recruiters walked out of the door.  We have had individuals on Snyder's staff since that time who have been good recruiters, but not a group of them (Bielema, Coleman).

You are wishing for something that has been gone for 15+ years.

The answer is the title to the 2003 Tarantino flick featuring Uma Thurman.
