I rough ridin' HATE FACEBOOK. Unfortunately dumb crap millennials are starting to have children so I'm forced to use it for work. Can't you stupid assholes use a phone or send an email? Are these stupid slobs spending so much time on facebook that they can't close the rough ridin' app to communicate like a normal human. People send their children to me for up to 12 weeks, can't you make a goddamned phone call? I have literally one rule for my wife and it's that she can't facebook in my presence.

Anyway these idiots send nothing but facebook messages, so I had to download the app. I also required my assistant director to do the same. Less than 24 hours after downloading  I had three spam messages in the app and I saw that the app placed two images in my device gallery. My assistant director also had the images but not the spam messages. Oh it also added sound files as well.

None of this is the worst of it. When someone messages you their picture pops up on your device and you cannot disable it. The absolute worst.

what were the images of?

Just use the mobile browser.

Also, FB chat is possibly the easiest/quickest way to communicate when you don't have access to a mobile network (phone or text).

welp checkmate, clams.  I guess for those of us spending anything beyond the smallest fraction of our lives traveling internationally, FB Messenger is the answer

or just use FaceTime / iMessage which are both native to iOS and free

Thanks ww.

The images were two images of that thunderbolt logo, the sound files, I'm assuming, are the sound the app makes when you get and send messages. I have deleted the app though, those permissions are just too much.

After reading this thread, I won't download. Permissions are far too permissive.

you've already proven your point that FB messenger makes sense for approx 1.2% of the us population, now stop harassing me.

I don't think the facebook messenger app makes sense for anyone, which is why I suggested just using facebook on a browser instead.

FWIW, most Americans and spaniards abroad communicate using WhatsApp.  No need for Facebook messenger.. Weirdos.  Use regular texting.
