car dealerships
« on: July 21, 2014, 02:59:31 PM »
I've been thinking about this for awhile but car dealerships seem like the most inefficient way to bring cars to the market. I remember reading somewhere that the only reason they still exist is because most states have regulations forcing cars to be sold through dealerships. That is a regulation I think both my contard friends and I can agree needs to go.

With the internet I almost think you could just order your car directly from the manufacturer.  I shouldn't have to talk to someone to buy a car in the 21st century.

Maybe if it cuts 20% of the total cost. Or maybe dealerships have places set up up where you can test a drive a car in big cities. I don't know im just saying car dealerships seem like a very inefficient mode of delivery to the market.

I buy my cars used off Craigslist and elminate the middle man. Screw dealers. The seller makes more, I save more, everybody wins (except the dealer). The $100 I spend having a trusted mechanics check it out gives me more peace of mind than some dealer telling me "she's a real beaut!"
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Bought two, sold two. All transactions went great.

Found a car at a great price on craigslist last summer! Turned out it was just a small used car dealer but still, CRAIGSLIST!!!!

Here's the best part, he offered my $400 for my 97 Camry with 240,000 miles and no AC trade in and I was like "na I'll sell it myself". I sold that bad boy on Craigslist for $850!!!!  :gocho:

I will never buy or sell a car on Craigslist again. Sold a car once. The first thing people do is offer you about half of what you're asking. One dude yelled at me because I refused to budge on my price. Others asked if I would let them make payments.
