Do you lock your doors?
« on: July 17, 2014, 01:44:01 AM »
At night: No, not really.
When away from home: During the day, nah. Not usually. When gone for a few days, yes.
Vehicle: depends where I'm at, usually not at home.

I used to live in an apartment in MHK that I always locked, landlord said we had break-in probs when I moved in.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

My house and car are pretty much locked all of the time.

My dorm key in college was the first house key I ever had. My parents still don't lock their doors and they also leave the keys in all the vehicles.

When I visit, worlds collide inside my head and I invariably lock my keys in my car at least once.

At my last house, no, but that was because I did not have a house key. I did not keep anything of real value there. Otherwise, yes, of course.

When asleep or gone, yes.  Why wouldn't you?  I get why ppl like to say they don't.   It makes them feel good about how safe they feel their community is, but, the house came with locks and we are talking about an additional 4-5seconds a day to actually use them.  No matter where you live, that just makes sense.

I don't see the down side.

My wife ripped my ass because I left the front door unlocked two nights ago when we went to bed.  My two year old daughter likes to check the doors to see if they are open and if so will go ahead and decide to go outside to play.

Luckily that didn't happen but man oh man was I in trouble.

I always thought an alarm that would trigger at a user-specified time to alert you that your garage door was open would be a good idea

Growing up, my parents were always close enough with the neighbors that they would let us know.

I thought the joke was funny. Leaving your garage door open, not so much.

When we went on vacation as a kid it was always my job to lock the front door. I forgot once when we went to Florida. Came home with the front door wide open for the whole week.  :horrorsurprise:

Nothing was taken though.  :Woot:

But to answer the original question, yes always lock our doors if we're asleep or gone.  And always set the alarm system anytime we're  gone. Mrs kcfd is way more anal about this than I am. (sometimes I forget to set the alarm when I leave)

we live in Topeka and always lock our doors. we did forget and left the garage door open tuesday night, it was all good though.

as a kid in NNY, we never locked the doors and my dad (who i didn't live) never locks his to this day; and he should, he's got lots of guns and illegal crap in there, but that part of NY is as podunk as leoti, KS.

i usually don't if there's someone home or if we're just running out for an hour or two, but my wife is all paranoid about being raped and killed, so she does and then yells at me about it.
