remember when snl went through a bunch of changes after it's 20th season when sandler and farley were let go and mike meyers left along with kevin nealon and a bunch of other people and people were like omg it's so bad now and the ratings had tanked and it almost got cancelled? well guess what? it didn't and then you had will ferrell come out of nowhere to join and chris kattan and darrell hammond and them boom you're right back in business? remember? maybe that's what this summer is. older guys dropping off. newer guys showing up. current guys stepping up. we can do this. let's do this!

I like the shows when they do the "five timers club" and have the old legends in there, and the show gets spiced up that week.

Who is in that room for gE?  Who needs to step up to spice things up?
i havent seen elltopay post in a long time, i enjoyed his posting. few other i cant think of off the top of my head

Maybe we should offer to sell the site to Fitz for $1.7 Million.  I'd probably take $1M, but you he'd drive a hard bargain, so best to start higher.

Have hemmy print us a copy of our subscriber list before the sale, just in case.

The football board is particularly tough because of the lid on most information and the fact that Snyder and company aren't exactly recruiting machines.

Definitely this. What's there to talk about? GPC has an engrossing thread about Bill being at the airport this morning. The most interesting football related post this summer has been the fat Derricot photo.

I see tons of euro tourists everywhere I go this time of year and I'm insanely jealous of their summer breaks. So maybe this is a good idea.

Fun fact: The snack off board contains more michigancat posts than any other.

my gE time probably tripled once I started reading the snack off board.  sports boards are a mega huge snoozefest unless it's like the day of a game or the day after a game.

I told officer daris this irl one time, but when I was lurking, the combofan board was titled the pissclams cooking board or something, and I clicked on it once and the first 3 threads I clicked on were about food/cooking and I didn't go back to the combofan board for like 3 months after that

The past couple of summers have included some pretty good BBS topics to tide us over... This one, not so much.

Perhaps DGale set the bar too high last year with her contributions to the Ron Prince Stories thread.  It's pretty tough to top summertime BBS'n like that.

everyone- in case it isn't currently clear...posters are required to visit every board on the page a certain number of times every month and aren't required to ever even post on them if they don't want to. again, this is information 99 percent of you already knew but hey, there's always that 1 percent that need it explained to them.

I think of REALLY great snack off board topics during the fall and winter, think to myself, "I'll save that one for the off season," and then completely forget about them.

Recently, and this doesn't count as one of my REALLY great topic ideas, I wanted to go through the birther pit and rank k-s-u's top 10 most forced snarky thread titles.  You know, stuff like, "Well, well, well. So, apparently, The Constitution is actually nothing but a blueprint for your JAIL CELL IN HELL."  I just don't have the time.
