I don't know why you wouldn't want the best product available on the field.  If a guy is good enough to play both ways, then I guess you could do that.  Just think how much more exciting baseball would be without catchers batting. Or without a crappy power hitter in RF dropping routine fly balls.

Maybe you should start a "Ways to improve baseball thread"

Probably not a need for a separate thread. I kind of solved all it's problems right here.

I guess I just don't believe that it'd be much different. I would guarantee that no good hitter in the entire world has been denied a spot on a roster because his defense wasn't good enough.

OK_Cat hating something 99% of the time reinforces my love for it.

Agreed, but even if OK_Cat had no opinion, I'd still love baseball. As Hud says, "It's a beautiful thing."

OK_Cat and Batt BcKee, smh.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

pretty meh on baseball.  i love the royals and that's about it.
"a garden city man wondered in april if the theologians had not made a mistake in locating the garden of eden in asia rather than in the arkansas river valley."
