Smart move by kd

How?

How is it not???

It's not like the Thunder were some scrub team.  They were up 3-1 on the Warriors and had it locked up, Klay had that historical game to end it.  I don't know it's just a lame move IMO

I lost a lot of respect for KD.  Winning a title is the ultimate goal and I get that.  But great superstars want that challenge.  The challenge of him winning a title in Okc was definitely achieveable.  I meen Okc could have been Nba favorite by Vegas odds or at least top 2.   So instead he joins a team that went 73-9, has a 2 time MVP and a super deep talent roster already.    We came up just short this year and I don't want the challenge to help an already talented Okc team go for a title in 2017.

Wasn't there a lot of speculation that KD didn't want to play with Westbrook because he wanted to be the man on his team and not part of a 1-2 superstar punch.  I guess joining a team with the MVP, a 2nd team all nba (Draymond) and a 3rd team all nba (Klay) would suggest that being the Man wasn't that important I guess

Where was this c & p'ed from, you certainly don't really feel this way?

Durant definitely made the West less competitive next year which is only a win for GS fans and the "I only watch the playoffs, I want to see history " types.

One silver lining is I just heard Lebatard lay out the Wade to Cleveland via Denver or Milwaukee scenarios that would make a Cle v GS Finals maybe the greatest generational grudge match ever.

I don't remember the talking heads bitching so much about a move ever.. Am I forgetting stuff with regards to Lebron & Bosh going to Miami or the big 3 in Boston?
I know Lebrons was just a ridiculous soap opera but I don't remember him or the others getting called out so much for making a move to help them better win a title.

Winning a title in OKC was not achievable. Not when there are better players than Durant playing on better teams.

Oh there were definitely people calling out LeBron but Miami wasn't as good as GS and Cle was like half as talented as OKC.

I don't get around to watching much NBA basketball though I like the playoffs. But man, NBA free agency is the best.

Summer 2017 NBA free agency >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Summer 2016 NBA free agency

The salary cap is going to jump another~$20M or so next summer. A majority of the players who have agreed to deals this summer are doing 2 year contracts with an opt out after the first year, so they will just do this all over again in 12 months. Add on top of that the other players whose deals expire after 16-17...

its amazing.  Hopefully durant keeps signing 2 year deals with player options every year and tries to go to the most stacked team he can as many times as he can.

OKC fans must be devastated. GSW fans are like, "huh. next seasons will be interesting."

If I'm a GSW fan I don't want Klay and Steph chucking 3's traded for Durant chucking 2's.

Yep, everyone lamenting that the 16-17 season is over seems to think that it'll be 15-16 but with GS getting 30 points added to their score for each game.  They basically swapped Durant for Barnes and Bogut.  They'll contrast with the Spurs even more now.  Getting Durant was about eliminating OKC more than anything else.

I don't see how any team will be able to guard the combination of Durant-Curry-Thompson-Green. It's a matchup nightmare.

Also, Golden State somehow stole Zaza Pachulia for like $3M.

Popovich has about 10 months to figure out how to trump smallball with his frontcourt of Aldridge, Gasol and Leonard.  And the Cavs will probably come up with an even better way of guarding GSW than having Kevin Love lock down Steph Curry in crunch time.

For some reason Miami doesn't want to give Wade the "thank you Kobe" contact

You're probably right. Never bet against Pop.

Side note: Kawhi should fire his agent for letting him sign a 5 year deal last summer. He is going to be making about half of his market value by the time he can opt out.

I don't really have any opinion on KD/GS. It's always fun to be against the heavy favorite to win it all, though.
