I believe I've shared this story before, but at the museum here in town they have a Jordan display, and one of the things in the display was a paper that Michael Jordan wrote in college.   Quite possibly one of the best college papers I've ever read from an underclassman:  Depth, clarity, scope, structure . . . impeccable.

What Dax is saying is that Roy Williams is a joke, guys. Michael Jordan never would have written that paper if Roy was coaching him, because he wouldn't have even been in class to get the assignment. Would Michael Jordan have his own shoe company and NBA team with that kind of lazy college experience? Doubtful.

The one thing you have to appreciate about UNC is the fact that they worked extremely hard to build a cult like feel to their basketball program: The Carolina Way.

Dean Smith started it, fueled it, and got all Carolina fans regurgitating that at Carolina they did it the "right way".   Everyone on the outside then started to believe that Carolina was was clean and virtuous because Dean Smith and Carolina fans emoted continuously how things were done the right way in Chapel Hill.   Roy Williams then went to ku with the Carolina Way and would repeatedly and proactively talk about the "good kids" and how at ku they "did it the right way".   Soon, you had the ku cult all walking around upchucking the same zombie talking points.   Everybody believed it, except the handful of people who really knew what was going on and knew that UNC and ku were just as dirty if not more so than everybody else out there. 

Carolina basketball was and is so ingrained in the culture in Chapel Hill, that one of the most prestigious public universities in the United States decided to fall on the sword again and again to protect its image and its basketball program.   The NCAA has proven they're scared to death to do anything of significance to one of the blue blood basketball programs, because it is college basketball that pays the NCAA's bills.   They were more than happy to slam Penn State, because they knew it was highly unlikely that anything that was happening at Penn State was going on anywhere else and because the situation at Penn State involved football.

I would always laugh watching NC play growing up, and I swear every basketball player, when they would be at the FT line they would give their name, height, year, etc, would also show their major........they would all be African American Studies..........now, I am not being racist here, but what does one do w/ that degree? And I think it would be hard to find work when the market is flooded w/ African American Studies Graduates.......???

I mean, Butch Davis is a pretty accomplished cheater, I'm not trying to short change the man, but it's tough to get really elite at cheating in only a few years. What he did was pretty impressive though considering how quickly he built up the cheating. He's going against blue blood cheaters that have been cheating for years and years though. There are some really, really good cheaters out there.

Last time I saw Butch Davis he was waiting at the valet stand at North Point Mall in Durham for the valet to drive up in what turned out to be a top-of-the-line Benz SUV.   

He was dressed in what looked to be white linen pants and matching shirt with a high end pair of cowboy boots.   This was soon after his dismissal from UNC.

For any level headed UNC fan, it has to be a pretty proud moment knowing that they had the majority of college athletic observers conned for as long as they did with the whole Carolina Way shtick.  I will say, hard core Carolinites are battling this whole deal with loaded weapons.  No knifes or baseball bats, but full on automatic weapons.
