Draft Day - 2014
« on: May 08, 2014, 11:07:55 AM »
It's here, guys...

Will the K-State streak of having a player drafted remain intact?

Who goes where?  Who do ya hope the Chiefs pick up?

What spot does JFF get picked in?  Will he be a bust?

This is the thread to discuss tonight's events that get started at 7pm!!!

I'll start.

I'm thinking Corn Lucas gets picked up in the 6th round by the Buffalo football Bills.

I hope the Chiefs make some really questionable draft choices so we can laugh hard at them all the time because I hate them.

I hope JFF goes to the cowboys and gets rough ridin' mauled. Best case scenario.

I've seen a few mocks (which I put literally no stock in, but they are fun to talk about) see JFF dropping to the middle of the first round. Some even lower.

I think he'll end up going in the top 10, but would be ecstatic if Dallas was able to grab him.

For KC, I think the have to go WR. Maybe trade up to get Beckham out of LSU or settle for Cooks from Oregon St. maybe later in round 1.

As for our KSU Cats. Lucas is the only one to have a chance to get drafted, and as far as I'm aware of, it's about 55-45 that he does. But as they say, only takes one team to like him.

The prop bet on JFF have gone from O/U Pick 4.5 to now Over pick 6... Clearly people think he's dropping.  Personally, I'd laugh my ass off if Jerry Jones drafts him.

The musers on The Ticket this morning here in Dallas were pointing out what a crap-show the Cowboys have been in the draft since Jimmy Johnson departed about 20 years ago.

Grabbed some over 5.5, but juiced pretty high. Hoping it hits 6 at my book.

Cowboys fan here, so I already know what to expect this weekend. Jerry will make a big splash in the 1st round, a solid pick in the 2nd, and then take a colossal dump in rounds 3-7. I couldn't care less about what the Chiefs do.

Zim and Lucas will both get drafted in the 6th.

By "make a big splash", you mean "do something monumentally stupid", right?

All fanboy for Manziel aside, I think he's going to do well in the NFL.

I have nada against JFF and think he was a really good CFB QB.  With that said, Merril Hoge put my thoughts regarding his NFL potential best into words...  He may not end up a total "bust", but I also don't think he's the second coming of Fran Tarkenton just yet either.

Yes and no. He loves taking skill position guys in the 1st round even though they might not be the biggest need. Going back to 2002, DAL has had 12 1st round picks, and I'd only call 2 busts - Felix Jones and Bobby Carpenter.

Of the other 10, 5 have been Pro Bowlers (Williams, Newman, Ware, Spencer, Jenkins), and I'd be willing to bet that Dez, Smith, and Claiborne will probably each make a Pro Bowl. Marcus Spears is the other one, and he was a starter for several seasons.

The Frederick pick last year was "monumentally stupid", tho...Not because he sucks, but because there was absolutely no reason to take him at #31.

If the Chiefs trade up in this draft I will be tempted to break things. This draft is too deep and they have too few picks to be trading up for anyone. I'm honestly hoping they trade down if they can get a decent offer.

With the Giants i'd be happy with Aaron Donald, Eric Ebron or Mike Evans.  I think some mock drafts have them taking Zack Martin.  It'll probably just come down to who is the best player the will step on the field and be a difference maker this year vs need.

Most mocks I've seen set up well for the Giants. They should have some good choices.

No Jayhawk is projected to be drafted or has a ESPN.com Scout’s Inc. rating of 31 or above.

G'men have options which is really nice.  They did a good job of filling big holes in FA which came as a shock to most fans.

Thats because all the NFL talent remains on the roster for the coming season: just saving Beems from a butthurt defensive response.  :ohno:
