Maybe earlier than 5, but I distinctly remember gas station person. I didn't yet understand the concept of employers or employees or companies, and just saw people giving lots of money to the gas station person all day every day.

I wanted to be Super Mario, in retrospect that would have been a terribly dangerous occupation. I wonder if he gets hazard pay? Also, my little brother used to tell everyone that he wanted to work for Wal-Mart when he grows up, because they have EVERYTHING!

Similar to this, I wanted to be a car dealer because I knew cars were expensive and assumed every dollar made was profit.

I agree with Rusty. I thought about this though and checked some dates and I would have wanted to be the American Ninja as portrayed by Michael Dudikoff and his sidekick Steve James. I was five when that movie came out and I loved it and definitely would have chosen that if asked.

The only thing I can remember that I wanted to do at 5 years old is to tie my shoes (I remember learning that in kindergarten).
