chicken breast related question
« on: March 30, 2014, 01:38:17 PM »
i've had some in the refrigerator for a week. just took them out expecting to open up the package and they would smell bad and i would trash them. they don't though. can i eat these things? is there a better way to tell if they are bad then just smelling them?

Smell test is absolutely sufficient.

million dollar idea- develop meat test strips or something that you can put on or into the meat and it tells you if it's ok to eat it. also, chicken really lasts for two weeks? that does not seem right.

Why not eat it? Even if it's bad you get to call into work sick tomorrow and stay home and goEMAW and watch movies all day. Win-win.

One week is the upper limit on anything fridge related for me. In fact, if you really did "smell" that bad chicken, then you may want to consider cutting off your nose, cause something funky is probably happening in there right now

sounds like what's already required by the USDA for meat/poultry processing facilities. Sorry Rick, but you're about 15 years late here.

well how about we make them affordable and available to the general public so i don't have to take out extra life insurance if i'm considering eating 7 day old chicken.
