Beer is a good one, but make it a beer that he can't get locally. I've been gifted many a case of Lonestar, which albeit sucks, but I drink it just the same. It's kinda like getting iced with a gift on your birthday except it's not Smirnoff Ice and you don't have to chug the entire case right there. Which I bet you're thinking isn't much like getting iced because 1) no Smirnoff and 2) no instant chugging, except if you think about it is really is because A) it's booze you don't have to pay for and e) you begrudgingly drink it.
