I hate Warren Buffett for doing this billion dollar bracket. eff everyone that's talking about it.

99.99999999999999999999% of people will be out of the running tomorrow, so I'm sure the talk will die down quickly.

yeah, it's pretty effing awesome of warren buffet.

It is smart of him to collect emails and personal info on millions of people who have absolutely no chance of winning the billion.

Quote
although Warren Buffet almost certainly won’t be out $1,000,000,000, Quicken certainly will distribute cash prizes: $100,000 to each of the top 20 contestants. Since only the first 15 million entrants are eligible, your chance of being one of the top 20 is 1:750,000 (assuming the contest fills up to capacity).

Namely, you have to fill out a bracket and sign up for a Yahoo account. You also have to give Quicken your personal information — your name, address, date of birth — and answer mortgage-related questions. (“Do you plan to purchase a home?” Etc.)

Filling out the bracket will take time, which, as the cliché goes, is money; the Yahoo account is valuable to Yahoo; and the personal information is valuable to Quicken.

So if you fill out a bracket, it’s best to think that what you’re really doing is competing to win $100,000, not $1,000,000,000, and, in the process, helping an Internet company and a mortgage company collect data.

I was just messing around man. I didn't fill out the bracket for that very reason.

I don't recall entering very much personal info.  Just gave my proxy, junk mail, yahoo account.  Plus, NSA.  ya know, Warren Buffet and Quicken are the least of your worries, friend.

Probably because they're allowing Amaker to pick the guys he wants regardless of whether they meet Harvard's academic standard or not.

harvard expanded their financial aid program a few years back.  something like 20% of students now attend for free, or the near equivalent.
