That's because it is the off season.  Come back in the fall, things will pick up.

This board is going to be a complete cluster eff now during the football season. Every time Jake incompletes a pass we're going to have to deal with "Sams would have made that play, HUR HUR HUR.....". I don't know if i'm ready for it.  :ohno:

Well he would have

Memorial Day is not Veterans Day, and it irks me when people treat them as the same thing.

Also,

veterans from the post-draft era do not deserve to be kowtowed to. service is not compulsory any longer.

I should add that while compulsory service with a high chance of death is almost too much to rap my head around, volunteer (though paid) service for a noble cause is also very admirable. My beef is with the idea that a lot of these operations are even admirable in the first place. That is where volunteering comes into play for me. I mean, Vietnam? JFC, talk about forced into action.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Social Media quick hitters about influential people who die — Maya Angelou today — really irk me. It's not that I think those people don't deserve to be honored, but it seems like so many people tweet/ post more out of self interest than tribute.

I feel like if you were directly impacted by somebody's achievements in life, then it's okay to put up a RIP status. Like when Harold Ramis died, we all watched and loved Ghostbusters, I think it's appropriate/okay to say your goodbyes on social media in that case. Maya Angelou on the other hand, most people have heard of her, but I doubt that a very large percentage have actually read one of her books. I would imagine lots of people in situations like that are just trying to enhance their image by pretending that they were interested in this person's life work, when really they are too simple or lazy to have bothered to pick up a rough ridin' book.

If self-promotional activity on social media really grinds your gears, then why would you even participate in the endeavor at all?

I'm tired of army guys surprising their kids and families at their kids' events and upstaging their kids. Just rough ridin' come home like a normal person.

I know.  It's really embarrassing when you're mom's boyfriend is at the game.
