Daytona 500--2014 Style
« on: February 21, 2014, 12:45:50 AM »
The 2014 version of the Great American Race is Sunday. Hopefully there will be none of those pesky rain delays. I'm hoping for a Dale Jr. win, but the Gibbs team looks pretty strong. Thoughts, predictos?

(This is not to be confused with the NASCAR 2013 thread. This is now 2014).

I grew up around short track racing, got to travel a lot and meet some pretty cool people who have done good things at high levels now, so I like to pull for those guys who have put in their time.

The Hendrick powered cars are strong, when they stay healthy. And I always pull for Kasey Kahne the most, but would be fine with Stewart or Gordon winning. Still really like Bowyer, mostly because of the things he does for the short track scene, even tho he's a squawk and the crap he pulled last year.

So I'll pull for Kahne to win, but I'll pick Stewart to finally break through. My long shot is rookie Kyle Larson, kid can wheel anything and think he'll do big things in the future.

i can just change the title of the other thread, Bones.

Kenseth looks strong.
Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.

good race, painful broadcast, those Fox guys get worse every single year, they ramble on about useless crap and DW makes my ears bleed. Mike Joy is too damn old.

After tonight can we go back to the master thread we've used since at least 2012? I don't want to post in the Daytona thread all season.

It was his second D-500. Not too many drivers can say that, not even his dad. This could be a big year for him.

During the broadcast I heard them say Junior had gone winless in 4 out of the previous 5 seasons.  That is inexcusable.

I stopped in the local BWW for a quick cool adult beverage last night after an engagement, and I was extremely pleased for a nice guy who won $1000 bucks in a pool about when Dale Jr.'s next win was going to be.    Not that I really care that much, but I was happy for him.

Is this race still going? I'm pretty sure it was on when I woke up yesterday and on when I went to bed.

for tv quality and racing quality they just need to move the race to a night race
