You know this this was going downhill fast, until Mr. Phog Sock came around with these amazing one-liners.

There are two years left on the latest $1.2B KU Endowment Far Above campaign.  I have heard they have raised almost $1B of that amount.  KU Athletics and KU Endowment will work together, so I would expect the timing of the football renovation will coordinate with Rock Chalk Park finishing up, the Far Above closing out, or perhaps be the last big hurrah! of the campaign.

Oh the things I wish I was allowed to tell you about RCP. If KU can't afford to pay for that facility what makes you think they'll be able to afford a decent football renovation?

Meanwhile Big Bro doesn't need any super special campaigns, just moves on like a boss with another $62 million in privately funded facilities improvements.

ku athletics:  Hey, uh, could you guys over at Housing Services take on a bunch of debt so we can build a basketball dorm.  Oh, uh, hey, lets put together some kind of funky financing, 50 year lease, City-University partnership so we can build a new track 5 miles off of campus.

Dear Sock,

Please review the entirety of this thread to learn that the Endowment is not the athletic department's fund-raising arm or its ATM.

Why do you guys care so much about KU?  Doesn't K-State have a football stadium you can discuss?

Lil Bro:  Hey uh, City of Lawrence and some other dude, and some foundation, could you ah, lease us some land 5 miles off campus for 50 years so we can build a new track.

yeah there is and our discussion of it is probably the most popular thread on the entire site. i thought it would be fun to look at ku's stadium as well and then everybody gets to say what they would do if they were in charge or guess what ku is going to do. i mean that sounds/sounded like something worthwhile. like, there are only so many cool ranch vs regular doritos discussions i can have in a given week.

Private financing vs. adding another $62 million to K-State's $83 million in long-term debt.  I'm sure you'd be making fun of that if the shoe were on the other foot.

And I (as well as a couple others) tried to have an honest discussion, and then the circle jerk broke out and your butthurt fanbase had to turn it into another anti-KU hate thread.  News flash:  K-State's stadium isn't that nice either.  Your stadium is in the middle of nowhere, dug into a hole, surrounded by a parking lot with a cruise ship on one side.  It looks horrible compared to most legitimate D-1 football stadiums.

The next $62 million will all be privately funded.   You don't pay very close attention when you're mad, and with the lease, ku just hooked itself to a 50 year financial obligation.
