idea in my mind's eye.  build a hill directly opposite from the main hill (Hill A).   put football field in between both hills.  put bleachers on hills, make the bleachers out of wheat.   on top of new hill (Hill B), build campanile exactly like the one on Hill A except make this one colored red and blue.  run a cable between campanile A and campanile B.  on cable b/w campaniles, mount different jayhawk piñatas filled with various jayhawk paraphernalia.  during halftime, Jay and Baby Jay can use their air powered hot dog cannons to try and break jayhawk piñatas.  if one breaks, fans under that section receive free jayhawk paraphernalia.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

also, uw's stadium isn't very impressive.  unless you're into Transformers.
I thought I was the only one that doesn't like it. It really isn't all that great...the setting otoh

This has some merit.

1.  Imagine if Minnesota's stadium was relocated to KU, and they created a tunnel system connecting the semi-open end to the hill/football complex:

2.  The angle of the football complex is designed specifically so that it doesn't obstruct the view of the stadium and the walk from the Campanile during graduation.  KU alums were involved and did not want to imitate K-State's lifeless stadium with something like Vanier.  A large portion of KU's complex is underground and built into the side of the hill, which maximizes space.  The clip art is stupid and the color of the facade is off, so I hope they fix those two things.  The angle is not a concern, though.

3.  Both.  Weis has hinted that they might build an indoor practice facility next to the upgraded stadium as well.

lol

JUST IMAGINE A 300 MILLION DOLLAR STADIUM                                     WITH A TUNNEL SYSTEM!                                   IMAGINE IT!

Need to get past the setting.  I keep picturing the brainstorming starting with 2 requirements.

1.  We can`t block "the setting"
2.  Graduation requires students to walk down the hill and into the stadium.

Seriously guys, just like bama in football, "can`t eff with tradition"

ku might have a nice setting, but the stadium itself is as lifeless as they come, with the only component rendering any measure of aesthetic appeal being the outside walls of the endzone.

The pressbox is the architectural equivalent of placing a large Nazi Normandy coast gun emplacement on top of two above ground replicas of an Atlas ICBM silo.  The East side of the stadium looks like an above ground skeletal replica of a fall out shelter circa 1955.

While it's understood that the football building wanted to avoid blocking views of the hill, it's overall aesthetic value is akin to a pre-cast building that you can find populating office parks in suburbia all across the country.  Dull, lifeless and uninspiring on every conceivable level.

That's an old pic, now the board is even bigger and blocks more of the hill.

You go on the back side of that pressbox and you worry about a couple of German MG42 Machine Guns being stuck out the side of that little balcony up there.

well you appear to be correct and now i'm more confused than ever. when did they build the new one and why did they build it in a way that blocks the view of the hill and vice/versa? beems? this has to come down when they redo things in a year or two, right? how old is it?

I think they should leave it, but in between plays they should put a picture of the hill on the screen.  Or maybe even a "live look-in" of the hill from a mounted camera somewhere.

How tall is the video board?  Could simply put risers under the hill of the exact same height.  Bonus:  Would also create tunnels/caverns.  Part of the space is earmarked for a secret Cerner lab, just grumblings.

Maybe KU should just build a new stadium around the hill. That way everyone at the game gets to see the hill the entire time. And just imagine the home field advantage a football field on a hill would provide. Charlie would probably need to get the Rascal out of the closet for the postgame handshake, though.

They should consider doing something like Allen High School.
