B-Ball training staff?
« on: February 17, 2014, 11:43:58 PM »
Last year, JO played like a total boss after they started giving him shots to alleviate his back pain. This year, DJamer has been playing the best basketball of his career after he got shots in his knee to help his tendonitis. Is our staff too slow to give our players the medical help they need? I'm no doctor, but it seems like ailments similar to the aforementioned injuries would require something other than exercise/rest to remedy the situation, and our staff has been reluctant to administer such treatments. I could be way off base, just trying to gauge whether there is any legitimacy to my observation.

He was never an offensive threat and he is getting wide open lay-ups because nobody keys on him  :dunno:

On defense earlier in the year, you could tell there was at least one of his knees that wasn't right. He's a decent athlete, and he was getting blown by guys that were losers because he couldn't change direction.

In the non-con it seemed like when he had to guard anywhere outside the circle, then he could be taken to the hoop at will. You could see him try to plant and change direction, and it looked like his knee just couldn't respond. Maybe Im remembering things wrong, or maybe I've overestimated his ability to guard outside the circle recently, but there definitely seems to have been a change when I watch him.

He still can't change direction. He jump stops on every closeout. Gets beat to the rim when he tries to guard anything outside of 8 feet. He's been used more lately under the rim as a fly swatter on D, and has worked on sealing off the high block and guards have been less reluctant to feed him for easy layups. Major, major improvements, but I'd hardly thank any gain in agility, coordination, or speed. More a shift in utilization.

deuce has lined up some great evidence that show that shots work.  makes me wonder, where did this training staff go to med school, ku?  that would explain the tardy shot sched that they've been proven guilty of running.  also- is this another one of ADJC's cost cutting measures?  shots medication ain't cheap.  my guess is he did the math and is saving a shitload by holding back shots.

Hey guys, one thing I was thinking about is that we all should be injecting more cortisone into ourselves.

I vote for more steroid shots and less cortisone.  Or whatever on the cortisone, as long as we start steroids.

I'm good with injections of any type, even of the hot beef variety.

It's been a while since I saw The Program with James Caan, but I'm pretty sure steriods were the key to winning, and the guy who played it straight got his knee blown up.  So more steriods are probably what we need.

I don't like needles. But I'm OK with injections for others if it means we win more games.
