crap happens.  shouldn't have gotten t'd, should just get one game suspension from league.  fan should not be allowed back for the rest of the season.

like, think about all the crap that gets said at a game towards players - would half of that get said if it was just one fan and one player on a sidewalk?  there are repercussions for talking crap - and there are consequences for those repercussions.  I'm fine with both.

I dunno, I just feel bad for Marcus. He's collapsing under the pressure.

A little. ya. and his teammates aren't helping. Cobbins being lost for the year was a horrible break. Otherwise, Smart brings a lot of this on himself because because they know they can get to him.

A lot of this falls on Travis Ford. Not the individual situation, that's a punk fan and a bad reaction from Smart, but Ford's overall control of this team and not handling losing Cobbins. That certainly changed OSU's outlook as far as winning the league, but there is too much talent there for them to slide like they are now.

Travis Ford completely losing his team would be a bigger story if Scott Drew was not also coaching in the Big 12.

True, that's a mess too.

Agreed on the fan.  Fat eff wouldn't say crap, outside of a sporting event.  No repercussions for fans.  Dude should be ejected and banned from venue, if his comments warrant it.

But, crap gets said by opposing players too.  Go after somebody on the court, you'll deal with the consequences.

I feel sorry for Marcus Smart.

I don't understand the "you can never touch a fan" stuff.  Sure you can.  However, there are consequences.  Just like in every other aspect of life.  The conversation should be about whether violence is ever OK, not about entertainers and fans.

The guy just snapped.  That's all.  Many others have surely been close to doing the same, and many have snapped themselves at some point in their lives.  I've been pretty close before.  I feel sorry for Marcus Smart.  He should be making millions in the NBA right now...he must feel like he's being used.

Travis Ford is a piece of crap for letting Marcus come back.  A selfish hunk of garbage that took advantage of a kid for his own gain.

eff you, Travis Ford, a large part of this is on you.

I agree with both you and Zacker on this.  Will be interesting to see if Tech does anything about this.

Banning the fan when nobody knows what he said is weird.  Of course Marcus is going to say he said some vile crap...and he probably did.....maybe the TV guy trying to help Marcus up would know what was said.

Also, some team is gonna get Smart at a good value. (although I've never really been sold that his game would translate well to the NBA.)

FFS, if he actually did say THE word, it will be a shame if Smart gets suspended.

What was said should have no bearing on it Who gives a eff what the guy said? Jesus Christ people get some thicker skin.

What the fan said should have a lot of bearing on how big of a POS the fan is.

I have been looking for a credible report of what the fan said, anyone find one yet?

Very interested in seeing this.

Who cares? The guy's a proven dick. 2/3's of any student section has made far worse hand gestures. A lot of people (not saying you are) keep throwing around that image/video as if to prove he is racist or something.

If allegations coming out of Lubbock are true, perhaps Oklahoma State star Marcus Smart can’t be blamed for shoving Texas Tech fan Jeff Orr at the end of Saturday’s game.

Toward the end of the Red Raiders’ win, Orr is rumored to have screamed at Smart, “Go back to Africa,” which prompted Smart’s shove and technical foul.

As a Texas Tech fan IN LUBBOCK, I can tell you the fan Marcus Smart pushed is an obnoxious douche. Even Texas Tech fans hate that dude. His wife is even worse. He DIDN'T call him "the n word," he was just talking trash like he does at EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. Almost makes us not want to buy season tickets.

Getting violent with a fan should have much more than a 1 game suspension mir, I don't know how you can think that.

(I would never let the fan back in either)

We don't have the same standard of what constitutes violence. Also even if the guy said "go back to Africa" I wouldn't givehim a llifetime ban. I refuse to allow ESPN's overreaction cloud my good sense.

Texas.  Same place as Jeff Orr, it would seem.  :dunno:
