So finally got to watch Jeremy Scahill's "Dirty Wars "

Pretty much affirmed that this administration has handed the keys to the kingdom to JSOC/CIA.

Interesting, yet scary the kind of power the Imperial White House has bequeathed themselves.

Sure, I just find it rather humorous that organizations that are vilified and detested when Democrats don't control the White House, now have their ticket punched like never before by the current administration.

yup, pretty funny dax

so you're of the opinion that all military actions should be broadcast ahead of time and completely transparent?

Obama is almost as bad as Bush, but Bush set all these precedents so he's partially responsible for this now.

Also, Congressional oversight on this is terrible (DOD Diane and co.).

Also, the press is terrible (David Gregory my wife told me so and co.)

Also, the entrenchment of the military/intelligence/surveillance complex is terrible.

There is plenty of blame to go around and Obama could not white knight everything away on his own in the current environment if that were his inclination (which it isn't) so a little context is useful in understanding why Greenwald, Snowden etc. are seen as villains and unrepentant war criminals and violators of the Constitution are paraded around on network television every Sunday morning as experts.

I agree.  Absolute power etc.  I just think once Presidents were deferred the power of the imperial presidency by Bush, Cheney, Yoo, Ashcroft etc.  It will inevitably be used and abused until it is brought in check by one of the other co-equal branches.  Neither seems particularly interested in doing so for the foreseeable future.  Despite what Rand Paul or Ted Cruz or Darrell Issa would have you believe.

Watched this yesterday... also watched "Wiki-Leaks - We Steal Secrets"  It's all quite depressing.  I am fighting the urge to be ashamed to be an American.
