brady (maybe)

also. that article is pre-broncos era. his supporting cast absolutely supported him against baltimore last season. two special teams td's should have put that game out of reach.

the article is interesting. but flawed. mostly because it didn't take into account the receivers or offensive systems. peyton is the only qb who has been allowed to exercise his inner control freak to the point that he actually is essentially the offensive coordinator. he has tailored the offense to run completely through him and the passing game. and while that makes for impressive regular season numbers, finesse passing offenses historically have been stymied in the postseason. not to mention, it makes it very difficult to field a great defense when so much money is tied up in the qb, wr's, rb's and o-line.

brady has been able to rely on his defenses and running game because bill belichek wouldn't allow it any other way.

like i said, brady hasn't been the great postseason performer that everyone believes him to be for a long time. and considering he did very little besides protect the ball in the 1st sb, and barely beat guys like mcnabb and delhomme in the other 2..perhaps, brady has always been given more than his just due.

This is an excellent post.

Also, I will bet NUWF3 a bottle of Tank 7 that, from here on out, until their respective retirements, Alex Smith wins more Super Bowls than Peyton. Same # = push. Will also make a secondary bet with him for a comparable wager that Alex averages more TD's thrown per Super Bowl played in than Peyton did (sorry, I mean, "does").

 :Chirp:

No it's a dumb post.

15. Jan. 14, 2012: Patriots 45, Broncos 10
Brady: 26-for-34, 363 yards, 6 TDs, 1 INT

17. Jan. 13, 2013: Patriots 41, Texans 28
Brady: 25-for-40, 344 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT

Also McNabb and Delhome never played defense, so that point is dumb too.

Brady has led his team to three straight AFC title games, with one preceding a SB appearance.  He's been asked time and time again to play his role and he does it well with 5' nothing's and JV hopefuls.

tebow and t.j. yates were the opposing qb's

Were they playing defense?

I mean the same D would have been out there if their starters were in.

You are really threatened by Brady. Is he getting too close to Elway's legacy?

okay guys. so by my count that's 16. that puts all-time playoff loser (his 12 losses are the most all-time fyi) peyton in the bottom half of the league right now as far as super stud playoff winning quarterbacking football goes. i've fended off the lol worthy attempts to dethrone eli and brady from my list but i could be swayed to revisit a couple of my conclusions, and maybe peyton could just sneak in to that top 15.

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/02/04/pff-all-postseason-team-2008-2013/

so, starting with eli, what other qb's would you rather have start a playoff game/super bowl instead of the all-time losingest post-season qb in history - peyton?

i'll start:

eli:
8-3 overall. 2-0 SB.
rodgers
5-4 overall. 1-0 SB.
brees
6-5 overall. 1-0 vs. peyton. 1-0 SB.
russ wilson
4-1 overall. 1-0 vs. peyton. 1-0 SB.
andrew luck
1-2 overall. 2nd greatest playoff comeback ever.
brady (maybe)
18-8 overall. 2-2 vs peyton in playoffs. but peyton has won the last 2. thus the maybe. also, can't beat eli. 3 SB.
big ben
10-4 overall. 1-0 vs peyton in playoffs. 2-1 SB.
kaep
4-2 overall. his 2 losses were to flacco and russ who peyton can't beat either. but kaep almost beat russ. edge kaep. 0-1 SB.
cam newt
0-1 overall. small sample size. not a confirmed loser like peyton.
rivers
4-5 overall. 2-0 vs peyton.
wacco for flacco
9-4 overall. 1-0 vs. peyton. 1-0 SB.
alex smith
1-2 overall. 108.6 QB rating in playoffs (highest overall). also, 1-0 against brees, who is 1-0 against peyton. alex>peyton on both fronts.
matt ryan
1-4 overall. but beat russ wilson. So matty ice>peyton.
nick foles
1-0 overall. small sample size. not a confirmed loser like peyton.
healthy acl rg3
0-1 overall. small sample size. not a confirmed loser like peyton.
josh mccown
0-0. no sample size. not a confirmed loser like peyton.

You would actually take Eli over Peyton?  Pretty laughable.  Games aren't won by the QB alone.  And even then, Peyton is a MUCH, MUCH better QB than Eli.  I'd take him all day, playoffs or reg season.  Joe Flacco has a super bowl ring and Dan Marino doesn't, I'm still taking Marino.

Both those games were heavily defensive efforts.   Record is NOT a QB stat.   Do you just refuse to acknowledge this or do you actually believe it is?  Eli's teams were of a much higher quality than Peyton's.  Peyton won a super bowl with a defense that has largely been acknowledged as the worst to win a Super Bowl.  Anyone that would take Eli in any game over Peyton or actually believes he is better than Peyton doesnt know how to judge QB play.

So just to confirm, you'd MAYBE take Brady over Peyton in a playoff game, but definitely take Alex Smith, over Peyton Manning, in a playoff game.

If so, I'm  :buh-bye: this thread

Alex Smith's playoff win % is worse than Peyton. Also, he's awful at football.

that 108 qb rating tho. also, he beat brees. he lost to eli and luck bud, can't fault him there. you can't spell ELITE WITHOUT ELI.

You don't have a decent argument so you use QBWinz which isnt a real stat and holds very little value and then call me a dumbass, Ts and Ps j-dub.

peyton sucks (at everything except pretty regular season stats). alex sucks (at everything). now beat it loser
