Ran into a buzzsaw--it happens.
First time in a while that KSU's lack of interior length hurt...could not hit the boards with any success. Combine that with KU not turning the ball over, and the game is not winnable.
KSU did some things to build on. Ran offense well, and got to the hoop regularly. Kept composure and kept playing regardless of circumstances.
Defense had some problems. The lazy take is going to be "KSU played soft/scared/gave up" but I think there was too much emphasis on not fouling, and the players were hesitant as a result. Doubling the post didn't work for most of the game--it seemed to be something that needed to be practiced more.
Interesting that Williams played for Southwell most of the second. Nino has been playing tough since the OSU game. Coaches must have seen something from Southwell on D they did not like. Shane is probably to good on offense to bench for Nino going forward, but will be interesting to see how things develop.
