Let me preface this by saying I am the definition of a gracious opposing fan. Never yell, hardly even clap. I have been twice, and can say both experiences were dreadful.
First time, was on crutches with a broken leg, and got things thrown at me as I crutched in to my seat, then while attempting to get down the aisle, was knocked off balance by a lady to the point the guy in the row in front of me had to literally catch me. The lady turned around, saw what she'd done, and didn't so much as say sorry before resuming her conversation.
Second time I as literally not allowed to enter the arena without accepting some stupid KU shirt they were handing out.
Both times, had people cheering AT us and making rude comments even as we continued to be gracious (not to mention we were down by like 30) for the entire game.
I personally have no plans of ever going back, and vehemently disagree that KU fans treat visitors like any other team. KU just has too many Tshirt fans who live vicariously through KU basketball and thus think they are better than you, and they take every opportunity to let you know about it because it lets them sleep at night.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's a cool environment to experience and I would be surprised if anyone gave you any serious flack with your daughter there, but my experiences have thus far only augmented my hatred for that fanbase.
