This, you ask anyone august 29th what they thought the cats would do this season and the top answer would be "Rebuilding year for new blood defense"  But for losing all we lost after last year, the fighting Hayes' didn't miss a beat.  So blessed.

Fourth in the Big 12 is pretty impressive when you consider how many new starters they had and how young they were.

FEI and S&P had us at 50 and 63, respectively.  Pretty much right in the middle of the pack.

YPP this year (5.01) was the lowest it's been since at least 2007 (as far back as CFBstats.com goes).

Given the lack of experience returning, it was what could be expected, especially with the downgrade at corner.

The only major difference between 2012 and 2013 was the lack of turnovers.  We forced seven less and gave up 13 more.  Considering that we didn't lose a game by more than ten points, and the OSU and Baylor games were pretty much shot to hell because of turnovers, it could have been a better year.

Obviously, we should expect more next year with everything we have coming back.

I wouldn't consider that average by any stretch of the imagination.

Also, Hayes should build a really good D based on JUCO talent and defensive talent from HS we've brought in at LB, DBs, etc.  Not so much DLine, but with Mueller, Britz, etc. back, should be solid.
