First:  The obvious

Wings
Homemade wings are a little tougher than one would expect, or at least than i would have expected when i first made them.  You'd think just seasoning some wings and tossing them in the oven would be sufficient?  But no, unless you like soggy skin and setting off your smoke alarm.

I'd seen recipes that said you should steam the wings ahead of time to pull out some of the fat that smokes/slows cooking, but that seems like alot of work to me, so here is my approach:

1) Part out wings and salt the night before, leave to cure overnight in the fridge
2) Fire up the BBQ and smoke for a few hours to render out some of the fat
3) Once the meat is done, toss on hot grill to crisp up skin
4) Toss in your favorite sauce

I know we've discussed our favorite BWW sauces, but whats your favorite home wing sauce?

Fantastic idea CF3!  What kind of Whiskey will you be using?  Do you have any signature twists to your Manhattan?

he does an excellent deconstructed manhattan where he just lays all the bottles of booze out and chugs it in assembly line fashion and then does the orange-as-a-mouthpiece routine.  a real crowd pleaser

Probably Jim Beam. That's my go to for affordable/drinkable.

SchwesterSonntagchen (whose an activecat, not alumnuscat like myself) requested cheese dip on the phone just now, while not fitting with the theme, i'm one to oblige (It's the holidays, guise!!!)

Block of velvetta, cubed
Can of Rotel (mild), drained
Can of Rotel (hot), drained
Can of diced chiles, drained
1/2lb sausage, browned, crumbled
Milk (qty to consistency)

Mix everything in a microwave safe crock and nuke away.  When it about melts through, add milk to get the consistency you want, not paste, but thick enough to keep the chunks on your chip. enjoy.

If you didn't drain your rotel you probably wouldn't need milk.  I add some cream cheese to mine too.  Oh, if you have a crockpot, that works just as well, if not better than microwaving, keeps it warmer longer, you just have to start heating it 1+ hours before serving.  But I think it is worth it to maintain the saucy consistency.

176 is at the game; so it's just me and mini176 we will probably have home made pizza shaped like a snowman before kickoff, then I'll put the kiddo to bed and booze it up with some blue moon farmhouse red.

I have an all ceramic crock that I can remove, so i'll microwave it to get it hot then set it back in the unit on warm, quicker and less chance of burning the bottom.  I like the flavor better with the milk, but its just an old habit, really.  Also I think it gives me more control on the consistency, when you don't drain you're just gambling on how watery your can of Rotel/chiles is.

Don't tell me you're going to top the pizza with pepperoni to make little eyes and faces for the snowman pizza, because that would be far to adorbs, I couldn't handle it.
