I was just using the chart _Fan updates.

Yeah, it depends if you want to debate based on Big 12 only or full season. I prefer Big 12 only at this point and Jevon is better. Nigel's assist to turnover rate is dreadful and it can't make up for his slightly better scoring or a few more steals.

what on earth are you looking at?

The 1/28/15 chart, Big 12 stats only.

Nigel has 8 assists and 11 turnovers in Big 12 play. He's 2-9 from 3. Yeah, limited minutes, but not good. If he wants to play more he needs to be better and not absolutely melt down with the basketball multiple times against WVU.

Jevon is clearly a better player.

Assuming that Nino is healthy and continues to play well (thus spreading the floor), playing Jevon is a no-brainer.  The only reason to play Nigel is that he is probably a better outside shooter (although he hasn't been this year) and free throw shooter, but Jevon is better at everything else.

It is not a debate, Nigel can't penetrate.

Nigel needs to be a scorer for us, needs to shoot that should be his role. He passed up a couple shots in the WVU game and that is unacceptable for him. He needs to play like Tay in his senior year.

Everyone on the team absolutely melted down multiple times against WVU. I mean when Nigel's getting 6.8 TO/100 and Jevon's getting 5.9 that's basically a tie over so few possessions. And when Nigel's steal rate is 4.3 compared to 2.6 for Jevon that absolutely makes up for it. Like, literally makes up for it.*

*Assuming you're using these conference-only stats, which I think are largely statistically insignificant, at least w/ regards to Nigel. Probably for the whole team.

I didn't take the time to do those because I did that quick. If I have time I will.

FWIW, 14 of our games are vs Top 100 and 7 vs >100. I counted Pitt at #103 as Top 100.

since every stat shows Nigel is about even with Jevon (at worst), even in the attempt to skew the numbers in Jevon's favor, Nigel is the clear winner because he's proven he can shoot from 3. On another team, this might not be the case, but this team has a more glaring need for a competent three point shooter than about any team I can think of.

I would be willing to try wes and foster as combos and put edwards in the game as the three.

yes, I've also been saying this, even if it's just for a few minutes a game.

Skew the numbers? What?

I thought how each performed against better teams was worthwhile. Do with the stats what you want.

the more you chop down the numbers the less relevant they become, and it definitely feels like an attempt to grasp for a Jevon advantage. Because you sure don't find one when you look at full season or career stats.

I really think Nigel has looked much worse in his recent appearances than he did earlier in the year and last season. Jevon Thomas is also shooting 3s at a higher percentage than he is.

Watching an argument between two of the better posters on this board over whether Nigel Johnson or Jevon Thomas is the least shitty point guard on our roster is BY FAR the most depressing part of Bruceketball so far. Guys, it doesn't matter. They are both terrible.

Nigel's shooting could be an asset. Probably won't, but it could be.

He's like Lance Harris, but less consistent. He has a game about twice a year that makes people think he can shoot. It's fool's gold though.

I don't know, I think Nigel can shoot, but the problem is he can't dribble.  :frown:

what's probably most amazing to me is that they've both shot LESS than they did last year. I mean Jevon shoots significantly less than any season in Will Spradling's career. And he's STILL under 40% from 2 on his career. (Although he has gotten into the 40's this season!!!)
