We do a good but of late night races/runs. Both of us use a headlamp with the overy the head strap. As do most people I've run most races with. JusT make sure you get a quality one, and check for the red LED option with it. The red is nice for pre-race light that doesn't blind everyone else.

Just admit it, you're not running races you're treeing coons.

Dont climb the trees or shake them you should be fine.  It's not like they are looking to attack they just fall from the leaves and land on you. I mow under my tree that has oak mites and have never had a problem with them.

I have them all over me just from being in my driveway which isn't under a tree at all, wind blown I'd guess.  I seriously have about 60 bites right now, half of which I'd attribute to being in my driveway.

Are they bright enough to see with or just for being seen?

What did you decide on running lights?  Buying for my SIL.

Didn't.  Will probably try the knuckle lights, just haven't got around to it.

Thoughts on mini-tri's?
I'm thinking of signing up for one in May. The only thing is I can't train for the swimming portion. I have no place to do that.
I can bike and run and the swim is only 500 meters anyways. Anybody have any experience with this?

Mini/sprint tri's are a blast, mainly because you don't really have to be good at anything. Or care.

Like, wear obnoxious swimming trunks, find a beach cruiser bike to ride, and run in a pair of Lebron Soldiers.

Long run today.

Mile 1 - 8:38
Mile 2 - 8:58
Mile 3 - 9:07
Mile 4 - 9:00
Mile 5 - 9:03
Mile 6 - 9:08
Mile 7 - 9:12 (uphill)
Mile 8 - 8:49 (downhill)
1/2 Mile - 8:52 pace

I'm signed up for Rock the Parkway on April 8th. It's my first half. Elite runner cats: am I reasonable in wanting to break 2:00? Or am I setting myself up for injury and or disappointment? I felt good today, but I know I've got a lot of distance to add still...

absolutely reasonable. This is a very well organized run, and RTP eliminates nearly all the hills in Hospital Hill or the KC Marathon route. Have you ever run a half before?

My daughter's boyfriend has decided to run this with me. Little rough rider thinks he's going to beat me. He hasn't ran longer than six miles at a time. It's going to be fun watching him suffer. :)

Does old man strength have a cardio equivalent? Don't underestimate that punk whipper snapper's nubile cartilage and barely plaqued arteries.

Trail running   I would love to stay on trails year round.  Hopefully they will be clear after my half in April.  I'm ready to get off the road.
