Just ran my first ever 10k. I expected it to be harder than a 5k, but it was a lot harder than expected.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Gatlinburg trail running in three weeks. I love running through the mountains. Wish I lived closer.

Random thoughts:

Converted to morning running earlier this month and am loving it.  NEVER thought I would say that.
Discovered Tailwind Nutrition and have tried it out with positive results - may be the long run fuel of choice
Ever have a random leg cramp at work post run?  You get some really funny looks.
Put a marathon out there (St. Jude-Memphis)  :dunno:
Hoka's are allowing me to do things I never thought possible, like training through soreness.
Early morning churning means early bonkers sleeping . . . my bedtime is like, noon or something

Great uphill to Rainbow Falls. Easily done in the hours round trip. Really nice waterfall. Need to be in good shape but i took the kids up last year. You can continue beyond the falls to Mt Leconte for a great day hike.

Rainbow Falls Trail

http://goo.gl/maps/ehZfv

Bit flatter. Nice hike to Grotto Falls. Will definitely do this one with the family this trip on Saturday.

Trillium Gap Trail Trailhead

http://goo.gl/maps/BVuEk

Easy breezy hike on a paved path. Great for small kids.

Laurel Falls Trailhead

http://maps.google.com/?cid=10935690974027133723&hl=en&gl=us

I also enjoy running from Sugarlands Visitor Center to Cherokee Orchard.

Shared route
From Bull Head Trail to Old Sugarlands Trail via Old Sugarlands Trail.

1 hr 8 min (3.8 mi)

1. Head west on Bull Head Trail
2. Continue onto Old Sugarlands Trail
3. Turn left to stay on Old Sugarlands Trail
4. Arrive at location: Old Sugarlands Trail

To see this route visit http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Bull%20Head%20Trail&daddr=Old%20Sugarlands%20Trail&geocode=FepdIAIdWRQG-w%3D%3D%3BFY2MIAIdNlwF-w%3D%3D&dirflg=w

There are obviously many more trails but these are close to Gatlinburg and easily accessible. We are staying in Pigeon Forge. So accessibility is important. I don't want to drive all morning.

If you haven't been, Ogle Place is a nice stroll around an old homestead. Usually see deer and turkey in the area.

Better decide now on St Jude. It will fill soon.

Ran a little over a mile Friday night in a thunderstorm. I'm not supposed to be running yet, and I see why. Not fun. This sucks, guys...  :shakesfist:

Rest up. Running will be there when you are healed.

Suunto movescount app has a pretty cool gps movie feature.  Upload run from a suunto watch or I think you can just use the app like mapmyrun.  You can also take pics along the way and add them to the movie. This one's from my run this morning.
