Great stuff guys.
Quick Q: what is a 10% increase from 0 miles per week?

Putting that potato chip back in the bag.

Walked a 5K on Saturday. Not a good idea. Still not healed up enough apparently. PT guy says no more for a while.  :frown:

Bummer. I had no idea swinging your arm while walking would be that rough after shoulder surgery.

Yeah, me either. I had a Labral repair, and part of the bicep tendon goes right next to your labrum. Apparently the swinging back and forth, even in my sling, for 3 miles was too much at this point. No biggie, just sucks I can't do any big runs/walks for a while longer.

LOL. Of course, it's a powercat medal. OF COURSE, it is.

Can they use Snyder's name for the event without permission because it's also the name of the highway? If so, that's pretty slick.

Apparently he's involved, at least to a degree, as he directed which charity the race is to support.

from the usual method of learning, a facebook video share, I have come to be aware of "heel lock lacing" of tenni' shoes. Is this a commonly known thing? Is this the actual purpose of the topmost shoe lace holes that never get used? or is this a hack?

Yep, it's a real thing.  Commonly known? Well, I didn't know about it.  Is it the actual purpose?  Not sure . . . I mean, does it make the top of the shoe tighter?  Sure, but so would regular lacing through those extra holes.

This 2007 article from Runners World describe it, along with a few other methods.  The salient point being that not every runner should use this method.

Had a religious experience last night - let me tell you about it.  Some facts:

1. Have been a Brooks guy all my running life . . . first Adrenalines, then Ghosts (last 2 years).
2. Have just never been happy with the Ghosts.
3. Went trail running last week and very mild strain in calf.
4. Took a couple of days off, felt fine, ran 4 miles.
5. The next day I feel a sharp pain in my opposite hip (from the calf) and know that the IT Band has started to play its pain symphony.
6. Freak the freak out because I'm doing the LHC LHC LHC Bill Snyder half marathon next Saturday.
7. Based on the general reviews from the running community, I spring for Hoka One One (Cliftons), to be delivered next day by Zappos (VIP member).
8. Go out for a run just to see how they feel.

:horrorsurprise:      :pbj: :pbj: :pbj: :woot: :woot: :woot:

Based on the pain I felt two days ago, there's no way in hell I should have been able to run a mile, let alone 6.  The difference was amazeballs.

Just wanted to share . . . seems I've joined the maximalist cult.

I have moved that direction recently as well, also from the Ghosts.  I already had some Altra trail runners that I liked so stayed with them and got the Torin 2.0 for road.  I tried a pair of Hokas, but I just love the Altra toe box too much.
