Started working with a sports doc this week. Trying to get the calf healed and correct a gluteus medeus imbalance. I love running and really hope i can get this resolved.

tried to force myself to run last night in the treadmill and could only get 1.5 miles in before I wanted to kill everyone within a mile radius.  So I braved the freezing rain this morning and got 9 miles in.  Was my best run of the year, even with the slow downs to walk the snowy and icy patches.

When I was done my beard looked like a glacier which was definitely a bonus.

That's awesome, AST. Had a pretty similar experience last week with the 'stache. Not nearly as big of a deal, comparatively speaking, lol.

How do you guys deal with hydrating on long runs?
Just carry a bottle of water? Handheld thingy? Some type of belt?

The water fountains were all shut down on the 9 mile running/biking loop I ran today so I just carried a 1 ltr bottle of ozarka like a football, switching sides occasionally.  finished the bottle right as my 9 miles were done.  I have tried the belts but I consume so much water that they don't work well for me.

At these temps, you really shouldn't need much.  On runs up to 10 miles I won't take anything when 60 degrees or less, a bottle in hand from 60-75 degrees, and maybe a hydration pack at >75 degrees.

For longer long runs, I will stash bottles ahead of time, or figure out some 5-7 mile loops and put an ice chest and bottles in the car.

I've done belts, but the bottles are usually small, and I've lost my fair share of them (ejection).

I'm on team loops and cooler. I suffer from noassatall disease. The belts don't ride well on me. The Louisville Loop has plenty of fountains. So I'll go to the park for longer runs.

There is a golf course cooler halfway through one of my six mile routes that has served me well.
