Ran 3 miles tonight using gE running savant Ski    Be   's next-level breathing techniques. Ran at an embarrassingly slow pace, but it's only the second time I've gone running in the past 12 weeks according to Ellie Goulding and Nike+.

FELT OK AFTERWARD.

Great job, Won   Me   .  3 miles is p. good. How did the breathing technique work for you? It works for me but I have no idea if a real runner pro guy would approve or w/e.

I use runkeeper. I usually just draw rectangles and squares.

using social media to brag about your run is about the loseriest thing you could possibly do. congratulations on the internal feeling of satisfaction you got from this run, idiot.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

I use it to tell me how sucky I need to make myself feel to break my previous best pace. I hate it. but I need it or I'd run 12 minute miles.

Anyone like out of town running? The comments here have helped me find some amazingly scenic routes: http://www.usatf.org/routes/

Running along the Mississippi and by the arch was pretty memorable. My favorite thus far was along Lake Michigan on a road like 75 feet up from the beaches below. Stunning.

Yep. I run all the time when I travel. Great way to see some new areas. A couple favorites are the trails above Gatlinburg and the pathway through St Paul MN along the river (so many bald eagles). Cleveland actually has some fantastic scenery in their metro parks - Rocky River and Bedford Reserves are my faves.

All time favorite run has to be Lory State Park near Ft Collins.

I'm running my first 5k next weekend, I've been training in the gym on a treadmill so the whole outside other people thing has me a little freaked out...  Any tips on zoning everything out?

You'll love it.  Running with others helps keep you motivated....start at the back of your wave so you get the joy of passing people that overestimated their skills.   Much more fun to be annoyed by slow people you have to pass vs. being blown by faster dudes/chicks/kids.

Try to run outside before the race. It's a little different than the treadmill.

:embarrassed:

i lost it all. i was in pretty good shape early this year but then hurt my foot in a non-running incident and just got totally out of shape. running two miles hurts now. i had to stop for a break after one mile today.

time to to get back in it guys.  :cheese:

The week before I plan on outside, I was running outside, then it got so hot out that it wasn't possible!  I went out one night at ten and it was still like 97 so I decided I either needed to join a gym, or give it up.

Wow!  Never would of thought of nip guards!

The other tips are great, I'll feel even better about myself when I pass people instead of getting left with the slow kids!

Running a 5K with a bunch of other people is way better than running on a treadmill. Way more fun. But watch out for that race adrenaline, thug! Lots of people who aren't elite pacers like myself overexert themselves at the beginning because the music is pumping and there are people clapping and junk.

nip guards arent necessary for a 5k IMO and I've been known to get an irritated nipple.  just wear cotton.

I do treadmill training about half the time. If your treadmill allows for incline, push that up to 2.5, 3 percent. It will simulate running outside much more closely than doing it at 0.

My nips are like iron. In training for and running a half marathon I never wore nip guards or vaseline.
