True story: In pregame warmups Ell had a bad throw that hit me (was in POWL waiting to march) and I was like "Man that guy is off, we're going to get killed."

I had a KU friend asking me for insidery info early that week.  He said "dude are you going to cover that spread (like 14.5)?"

I said, "Dino-Crisis, we are going to win the game.  There's a lot to be said for the team with nothing to lose."

He didn't take my advice.

I remember there was a lot of BOOMER - SOONER going on as I walked into the game. Not so much after.

I also remember it was rough ridin' freezing that night. One of the coldest sporting events I've ever attended.

I also remember Jason White got so thoroughly demolished that game that he couldn't even remove his own helmet after.

And Sproles.... My god.

I yelled Boomer! at every OU fan I saw in the parking lot after the game, one guy punked me and I totally flinched, worth it tho.

Yes, I was BOOMERing my ass off by about the 4Q. Very few SOONERs though.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

For weeks afterwards, I'd walk my dog and call the game as if I was if I was an announcer at another stadium: Halftime score, Big 12 championship game in Kansas City, Oklahoma 7, Kansas State . . . 21.
I'm weird that way.

I actually lost my voice after screaming so loud from that one. I didn't scream that loud again until last year when we won the Dr. Pepper.

Still the best game I have ever see live. 10 rows back on the 45. That year I traveled to the Cowboys game to watch us lose. But I saw us win from the front row on the 45, right there in the Nebraska alumni section. One of my best memories was when I knew the game was over... I looked behind me and saw all the sad faces of the Nebraskans.
But still, the best game of the year, and best game in KSU history, IMO, was this KSU v OU championship game at Arrowhead.

Uh, this thread IS about the 03 Big 12 Dr. Pepper. The Nub game was super neat, cool story tho.

My favorite part of this was when Bill told the guy "Jesus, chill the eff out." I'm paraphrasing, but that's basically what he said.

i thought it was hilarious in 7th grade.

Did the same thing after NU game in 1998.

I doubt it is still on that bathroom stall over by the woodshop at my school

We had a lot of NU football fans at my school.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

The TD to Terry....... might be the most I've ever gone bananas for a TD.

Probably my favorite KSU play of all time.  I told my friend before the play that they were gonna go up top to JT on play-action.

Mus - Ell Roberson, on a play fake, with a deep drop on first down...takes it down the left sideline, wants Terry. Terry's got it! Headed for the endzone, K-State leads it! James Terry from Homestead, Fla. on a 63-yard homerun from Ell Roberson! The Oklahoma fans are stunned!

Of course I didn't hear that call years later because I was just to the right of the TD Pack Band's shell getting my crap shook by my friend as the play unfolded.

My call went something like this (yelling to my friend and anyone else in earshot) - Before the  play --> First down, we're goin up to to JT.  I can feel it.  Play action deep to JT.  Then during as I see the play-action --> Oh, JT!?! Oh, OHhh, JT, JT! And when he catches it and the defenders fall it's just berserk --> JT! JT! YES!!! YESS! JT!! I TOLD YOU!!!! Then my other friend who was standing in front turns around and just violently starts shaking me.

One of the best moments ever.  Pure hyperenergized bliss.

I lived in Dallas at the time and me and my girlfriend went to the game, she lived in Medicine Lodge. On Sunday I purchased the Kansas City Star, Wichita Eagle, and The Oklahoman. I also go shoe polish and wrote the score on my passenger back window, 2003 Big 12 Champs on the driver back window, and "best team ever, O Who?" on the rear windshield. I also intentionally made 2 stops in OKC, 1 in Moore, and 1 in Norman on the back to Dallas. It took a little of the LOL away from me when they were selected for the BCS championship anyway.

Oh yeah one more thing I forgot about, when I was driving to the game through OKC the Sports Animal had ads on for some t-shirt company advertising that they would be selling Big 12 Champion and BCS shirts, I didn't think we'd win but that angred me up. I called them on monday and asked them if they were still selling Big 12 Champion shirts and they hung up on me.

I was at a high school dance that night. We left the house and it was 0-7. We got a few minutes away and realized we forgot the corsage. We drove back to my house and I walked and the first thing I saw was Terry grabbing the ball for the second K-State TD.

All night I kept ditching my girlfriend to call my parents to ask for updates. I kept telling her, "no you don't understand, nothing good ever happens to K-State." Literally everytime I called, something good would happen. The Polite TD, their missed FG, and Sims' interception. Eventually I found out that a kid I knew had brought a tiny TV to the dance and a bunch of sports fans (KU and K-State alike, Beems was even there) so I watched that rest of it there. I was really, really bummed when Sproles didn't get that last TD.

I took my Dad and we sat on the 45 in the upper deck.  We were surrounded by loud Okies and particularly this one that was shouting  into another KSU fans ear that was next to us. He was jawing before the game about how great they were and after we went down 7 he was "there's more where that came from"  As the half unfolded this dumb red dirt trash became speechless with a deer in the headlights look. Luckily for us he didn't come back after the half.

When my dad dropped me off in Manhattan that night we hugged for the like the first time in ages. The win transcended emotions that went beyond the game of football.  It was huge!!
