car tires
« on: December 05, 2013, 02:39:15 PM »
so i got some car tires 20k ago and now the front ones are all wrecked and sears is like you need new tires and i'm like yeah no crap man isn't there some kind of warranty or something and they are like oh well man you just really need new tires and an alignment. they are goodyear tires and it seems like there should be some kind of warranty or something. they were rated for 65k or whatever. do i take this up with sears? goodyear? just pay the 400 and get new tires + alignment?

Did you rotate your tires regularly during that 20k?

throw a fit at sears with an email. pull some quotes from their website about their customer service and act all confused as to why theyre not helping you.

I had a similar situation, not as bad tho.  NTB installed Bridgestones w/ 55K warranty.  At about 50K, NTB totalled my tires (10% short of reaching warranty).  They credited me 10% against the purchase of the same tires.

The warranty goes with the tires, so you'd prob have to go to goodyear or whoever installed your tires.

Rick, they are going to ask for a receipt.  Might as well put on some wet socks, get on the phone with your bank's loan officer, and go shopping for a new car.

i don't have a problem paying for things but those tires only last 20k when i thought they'd go maybe three times that much and if you can't trust a tire salesman then who can you trust really?

I never rotate mine either, but I think every 5K miles or something like that.

that's absurd. people would be spending roughly 7% of their free time rotating their tires. hey you going to the game tonight? nope. thursday night is rotate night in the daris household.

sometimes when i forget to rotate the batteries in my TV remote the batteries will die. so instead of buying 4 new batteries ill just put 2 new batteries in there with 2 old ones to save a bit of $. im thinking your car works pretty similar to this.

Confirmed.  At a place like Sears, that will be all it takes.  Also, they will pro-rate the coverage to exclude the value of the 20K miles used.

I'd like to think that if I had the extra cash to do all the suggested maintenance-y stuff on my car, that I would do so. I totally wouldn't though, there are a million things like rotating your tires that you are supposed to get done way more often than you do. Seems like a big hassle.
