The other thing that makes me not like Christmas Vacation as much is the intro. Chevy Chase does a bunch of weird stuff with his eyes when he's driving to get their Christmas tree, and I've never understood why. Is he trying to make his character look manic? Is he just acting weird to try to be funny (emphasis on try)? I can't look at the screen during that scene, it's almost as annoying as Jimmy Stewart's voice.

Also, they filmed that scene in CO (with mountains in the background) and they live in Chicago.

Is Home Alone 2 the best sequel of all time? I think so.

That sounds like another thread for someone to start.
I think we've done that.. pretty sure we've combo fanned about almost everything

Only thing I can think of that hasn't been discussed is people who back into parking spaces.

And how are we judging the best sequel? Is it the best movie that is the second in a series? Because if so, it's Godfather II and it's not even close. Is it the biggest difference in quality between the second one and the first? Because if so, I think Terminator 2: Judgement Day has to be taken into strong consideration.

i mean if we are including 3's into the sequel discussion then my goodness toy store 3 is up there. lopso? baby? oh man.

There's a difference between suspending reality and ignoring geographic continuity. This reminds me of those damn Coke commercials that feature polar bears (Northern hemisphere) and penguins (Southern hemisphere). Chicagoans get their Christmas trees in the Rockies about as often as polar bears see penguins...

more likely-

a chicago resident drives to colorado to get a christmas tree or a preteen survives a few days in his parents home alone (:D) and fends off a few bad guys with things he has around the house?

this is why we have smackoff. to debate these kind of questions.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

Which is hilarious.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

part of the thing that makes vacation movies so funny is the intended lack of continuity.  Example: in the first vacation movie Clark puts away dirty dishes as they are handed to him to place in the dishwasher.

In Home Alone they chase a kid through the streets for stealing a tooth brush. But he gets away from the cops.
