tablets can cast hulu/netflix type streaming stuff though.  but tab casting is relegated to pc/laptops.

We just use it for Netflix and the occasional Youtube.  Is nice when you dont know what movie to watch so you and all your bros can individually look at Netflix and then whoever finds the best movie can just play it from their phone.

If you want to chromecast whatever you're interwebbing, you have to do it from a computer's chrome browser.  I don't think it has to be a laptop or really anything great other than having chrome browser.  For thinks like youtube, netflix, etc., within those apps on ipads/phones should be the chromecast button and you can cast from them.

Shitty Insight rapes you for a wireless setup. I have a  Linksys router. After some Googling, it does have issues with Chromecast. Guess I'll be getting an upgraded router soon.

I use it for Netflix, youtube, watchespn (watched the 'cats saturday while purdue-penn st was finishing up) and for my Plex server which is the main reason I got it. Works awesome for all of these functions. also great for casting pandora (no spotify support yet) there are a lot of apps this thing works with. for $35 I can't think of a reason not to get one.
