I don't think the issue is that everyone has to have immediate gratification.  Those that support K-State, particularly basketball, have done so as the underdog.  The most vocal critics, the ones refusing to go to games, support the program by not going to games.  Packing the house for a subpar team will support the "one more year" philosophy.  If these were instant gratification, fairweather fans then they wouldn't care.  They would just silently stop going.  They do care and they know that their most effective way to send a message is with their money.

That said, if I was still in the area, I would go to games.  I can't quit K-State basketball.  But I certainly don't blame the people who won't financially support losing decisions.

You know what I hate? Pissing contests about who's a real KSU fan.

And by the way, skipping a wedding, quite possibly the most excruciatingly boring cultural tradition we have, for a Cats football game tells me nothing about your KSU fandom.  Unless it was your own.

For me its also not just about supporting K-State though. Its also about not accepting loosing. Ill give Weber this season to prove himself and earn another season, but if we go below .500 at home this year he has to go.

If we keep making excuses for poor results and accept them there is no way we will ever be relevant except for a random season here or there. Same is true if we fire coaches a season after winning a conference title, so the sword is double edged here.

This reminds me of a long thread on a certain message board that covers the school in which I recently received my degree which called out fans for not selling out a particular venue despite the team being incredibly effing awful.

This star crossed k-state fan bullshit is going to ruin our program again.  You know what happened when we sacked up and went for it, we got Hugs and a crap load of recurits. Overnight we were back on the map.  This just wait and be happy bullshit is the reason why we have crap programs, its the reason why we've had crap facilities, its the reason why we've had crap fundraising. We need to shake things up. We can't rest of the supposed moral high ground of small timey k-state fan attitudes.  eff people who don't want to win and win right now.

I'm just beginning to accept the fact that as KState fans we just don't deserve good things.

If it helps, I left the game after the pick 6 and had plenty of time to go the wedding, so I'm self-revoking my real fan status for leaving the game early.

I go because I like hoops.  Don't live in MHK, drive an hour to games and have a small kid.  Skipping would be easy.  Just because I go doesn't mean I like oscar, it means I like K-State hoops.  I like Nino, Gip, Shane, DJamer; I think the new guys have explosiveness...I suffered through some crummy Woolyball, when there was no hope.  The new recruits at least give me that.

People showing they will spend money on a good product the past few years.  The AD is smart enough to look at that and know if they put a good product out, people will go.  Not going is doing a lot more than continuing to pay for a product, no matter how shitty.

Normally, I'd agree.  But this AD has made it clear that they'll use attendance figures (real or otherwise) to justify what they've done.  There could be 12K fOOD'rs sitting on their hands and/or booing the crap out of oscar, and the next morning's email will be about another notch in a sellout streak belt.

I'm not going to assist their talking point.

Their talking point doesn't really matter.  Soon you won't find our games anywhere on any decent channel and when you do tune into KState.tv, you will see a quiet bram full of echos and completely devoid of atmosphere.  The only ppl fooled at that point are the football only ppl that never really cared.

I certainly don't blame people for going as I would if I was there.  The key thing is to find some other way to voice displeasure to the AD.

I am glad you pointed that out - "I am just glad it's better than Wooly" is not only unacceptable, it is not even true
