They look awesome and I want a set.  When do they come out and how much are they going to cost?  What do you guys think?  When they come out how quickly are you going to get a pair of this revolutionary technology?

Sorry real life friend, but this is not a good idea. I'm usually all about new and tech-y things but I can't support a bunch of idiots running around trying to be Terminator with their own HUD. Several cities have already banned Google Glass.

I think it will ultimately be great and the haters of it are pretty annoying.

Think of all the teenage girls driving around with sideways ponytails talking/texting on their phones and not paying attention to the road as it is right now....then with Google Glass you can bet your life that number will quadruple at minimum. I'm all about cool things, but i'm not about distractions that endanger other people's lives.

Drive down Switzer from 3:15-4:00 and you'll see more teenage girls driving home from BVNW watching youtube and swerving all over the road than you've ever seen before...

Hands free isn't the whole problem, it's distracted drivers.

I was going to write my note this year about the privacy implications of Google Glass but pretty much every jurisdiction has gotten rid of the statutes that bar "discreet recording" of others in public places.  Illinois' was still in effect as recently as last spring.

 :frown:

Really just wanted an opportunity to research Google Glass (which, in five years may be as common as cell phones were 10-15 years ago imo) and maybe get a free pair for my efforts.  In my preliminary research, they were projecting that they will hit the shelves for the public as soon as the end of the year.

FWIW, I bet they'll be banned for drivers in most places, like cell phones are.

Also, if you're not on board with google glass, then you might as well just resolve to be disappointed in the future.  These things are going to be incredibly common and your friends and children will all be wearing them soon enough.  And soon enough, you'll succumb too.

This kind of cyber integration is incredible and exciting and it's coming fast.

Yeah. I especially love the fact that no one knows exactly where it's going. I mean, I guess you could just use it to watch youtube while driving or take sneaky photos but I don't think we've really begun to see the full possibilities of things like glass.

Google made the trial ppl agree that if they did that, they would effectively be banned from ever owning Glass in the future.  They sounded serious abt it too.
