If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

not to turn this into yet another will thread, but the talking pt i heard after ole miss is that will "calmed" everyone when he was on the court and things just ran smoother. maybe this is true, maybe we look more aesthetically pleasing with will running off screens or whipping passes side to side for 30 seconds, but the currency of offense is pts, not how "smooth" it looks. frank martin proved that. also the idea that having a non-shooting, unathletic, non-vocal leader calms the other players on the court stretches the bounds of credulity. will is intelligent, occasionally hits 3s, and tries. i'll give him that. but his best quality is staying out of the way. the rest of this stuff by commentators and tucks is just a way to qualify his importance since he doesn't garner stats to quantify it.

What leads you to believe he's intelligent?  I haven't seen a single thing in my time here that would give me that impression.  Like maybe average, but I tend toward dipshit.

Every coach he's had (Frank and oscar) has said he knows what to do on the floor and he studies the opponent and understands the game plan the best of anyone on the team. (or comments that infer this premise) That's probably where it comes from.

I am as well, this team really  needs a steady PG. I like little Johnson, but he's not quite ready to play 30-35 MPG. He can handle around 20, but I think more than that is too much for him. Hopefully Thomas can play 25-30 at least and be effective.

Because he is the only player not available now and isn't one of our current guards.

He's getting the hype from media etc. Not Wiggins level hype, but plenty of people have said he's good. That's all I'm going off of.

We think he will be awesome compared to the pg we currently have.  It's all relative.

We are shooting 41% from the field (10th in the Big 12)

We are shooting 26.4% from 3pt.    (10th in the Big 12)

Until Shane starts hitting some three's we are in trouble.

Next year seems like it will be a strange year for oscar. As far as I know Jevon Thomas is not billed as any kind of spectacular 3 point shooter, we know that Edwards can't really shoot from deep, and Foster is our only freshman with a decent stroke from outside. It looks like our strengths are going to be in the post, getting to the hoop, and trash points from o-boarding. Bread, did oscar have any (successful) teams like that at Illinois?

spradling is like about 90% of players, when he makes shots he helps his team and when he doesn't, he doesn't.  the main difference is spradling hardly tries to shoot.  if he'd get his %shots up somewhere near 20% and his 3pt% above 35% he should play as many minutes as there are in a game.  against all data, i think it's possible he could do the latter, but he's never even tried to do the former.

to be fair, for as long as he keeps his to% in the single digits, he is probably helping his team a little bit, if only by keeping it out of the other players' hands for a few seconds per possession, even though he refuses to shoot.

He's averaged about 35 minutes/game against shitty competition in college ball, and he has hit at a 27% clip from behind the arc...so  :dunno:
