Lots of talk before the tournament started about how thin the pickings were for the at large field. We've only got one #1 seed left with a shot at the Final Four. A 5 seed and no higher than a 5 seed (that lost its point guard before the last game) will battle things out on one side of the FF.
As much as I love what our team accomplished this year, we started two players who not only did not contribute on offense, but were a liability. Another of our significant reserves was the same. And the team that beat us today to make the Final Four was basically Nebrasketball on steroids. I mean, they do what they do very, very well...but they reminded me of 2007 SIU, a team that lost in the Sweet 16. Doesn't seem like you see teams like us or Butler make the Final Four very often.
Was this just a reflection of parity? Or parity and the overall level of teams being down this year? Or do I have a selective memory that's not giving me an accurate read on things?
