Can confirm that 5-10 mg is the perfect amount of edible to ski around on.

I spent 2500 on my snowboarding trip between food, booze, condo, lift passes and gear.

Unless you're going to ski regularly, just rent the gear.  If you are ready to buy, check out this site. They carry mostly previous year models at big discounts. Fast, free delivery.

Buy your outfit. Rent the board. Go back often and eventually buy your own board!

Rent boots/skis.  You can rent heavy jackets and stuff but if you have a water resistant jacket/pants you are probably good.  Just layer underneath.  Buy something to cover your mouth/nose/face and wear sunglasses.

I should've been clearer - don't rent a heavy jacket.  If you are going to buy something new, get something light enough that you can use when not skiing.

My ski jacket has a zip-in lining that can be worn separately as a fleece jacket. And then you can also just wear the shell without the lining....so it is like getting 3 jackets for the price of one. So, my suggestion is get one of those if you are buying a jacket.

I haven't worn a jacket or coat since grade school, hoodie till I die... So anything I would buy would be exclusively for skiing.

A fleece jacket is like a hoodie with a zipper without a hood.

I see lots of snowboarders in hoodies.  Just do that if that's your thing.

Just go skiing at mammoth in July and you won't need a coat
