Cool Stuff/Art you got in your house
« on: October 27, 2013, 09:26:11 PM »
Alright bros.... So I bought a house a while back and am tired of looking at bare walls.  Need some legit art or photography to hang up.  No your typical mountains with "happy trees" paintings either.  Something boss as hell.  What kinda swag do you guys have?  Has Anybody heard of Massimo Carnevale of David MacDowell?  These guys have some super B.A. paintings, but I can't find anywhere to buy prints.

Yeah?  That sounds pretty cool.  Do you have a link to something that looks similar?

One of the best parts of living in Louisiana is all the folk art depicting local animals and swamp scenes. Got quite a bit of badass stuff. :gocho:

Where do you live?  What's your budget? You looking for more scenic, portrait, abstract?  Do you want originals or prints?

After my wife's grandmother passed away we were given several boxes filled with old vintage Time/Life magazines like this one.

I've been thinking about maybe throwing up on the walls either in the house or in the basement/mancave.

Can any decorators/artsy types tell me if this is cool or not?

I have a ton of old newspaper articles(Man lands on moon, Germany surrenders, etc etc) that I want to frame and hang on the wall. Only problem is frames are stupid expensive.

Maybe is someone would buy some old autographed baseballs I'll get around to doing it.....

I would frame those and hang them on your walls rather than throwing up on them.  Just my opinion though.

You might want to keep that confined to the basement/mancave.  :whistle1:

I went over to my art major friend's house and above the couch in the living was a large oil painting done by his art major wife.

It was a life size self portait nude she had done of herself lying on a bed.

So consider that an option.

I have a big map of the Caribbean framed which is pretty awesome.

I also buy a postcard everytime I travel and stick it on a corkboard based on where it is in relation to the US. Just this weekend I had a buddy visiting and he saw my St. Maartin post card and asked where that was. I walked him over to the map of the Caribbean on the other wall and pointed it out.

I also like old maps.  Really gunning for an old plat map that's in my family.

I really like rooms to have themes and the themes should jive with the purpose of the room.  For example, my future study.  I'm thinking a Charlie Russel print of some sort, displaying some dueling pistols that will soon be bequeathed to me, and the head of some future trophy I might shoot.

Basement will be So Long themed.  Skeletons with sombreros, crap like that.  Currently looking for an artist to commission a painting I've been envisioning for some time (recommendos welcome:  oil painter with history of doing nature and wildlife paintings).

we bought a hand drawn map of belize in belize that looks really cool

after we got it home we noticed that it was labeled as printed in Austin, TX. it's in a frame so you cant see that part.
