Hey guys, Chad Kroeger called. Turns out he had a side project back in the 90's called "Tool".

mocat: would you like a high five after a daniel sams touchdown, or a two handed great sword through the heart after watching all of your family burn to death?

stevesie: shoot, give me a second to think about that one

Man, didn't know Tool had so many defenders. Did you guys have the black hoodie with the wrench in the shape of a penis in high school? Do you still have it? Because that's rock 'n roll, my friends.

i mean yeah Tool is a crazy good band with top notch musicians and no songs sound the same and they take a lot of risks, and each song is like an opus and it's pretty wild and unique and see you down in arizona bay and all that, and the other bands you have mentioned are like a group of homeschooled bros from chicago who perform the blandest of bland ninety eight nine the rock 3 minute and twelve second 4/4 beat garbage that even homeschooled bros from chicago would not listen to

Tool is suing Smile Empty for sounding identical to them. "[Smile Empty Soul]'s debut album sounds exactly like 'Aenima', from the first track to the last track. Ask our fans, no one sounds like us. No one." says one of their members.

So our team did some research. It turns out Tool was correct in their assessment. When we compared the first song of each album to each other, our findings were irrefutable. It was the exact same song. Then we had our researchers study the second song on each album. You'll never believe what they found.

"They were the same, too" one researcher says. "As were the third song, the fourth song, and so forth".

We're not taking sides in this case. We're just saying don't be surprised if Tool has a lot more money after all of this is presented in court.

Remember, stevesie is the same guy that thought some pop-punk band from the early 2000s was the first to layer different vocal parts or something like that. We can't expect him to appreciate Tool.

Tool makes complex music for intelligent individuals. They are their own genre and imo one of the greatest bands of all time. From deep philosophical and spiritual lyrics to Danny Carey simultaneously using 2 or 3 conflicting rhythms on drums to their amazing visual arts/videos (incorporating Alex Grey's psychedelic artwork) to their insane live shows, make Tool so great and add to their mystique.
