computer whiz kids help steve dave with important problem ITT
« on: October 16, 2013, 02:14:35 PM »
I got a new laptop. it's in the laptop dock thing and the monitor with the smaller blue plug is blurry as crap while the monitor with the larger white one is clear. they were both clear with my old tower they just took away that was using the same blue/white cables or whatever. I say to the IT guy, "why is this one blurry?" and he lies to my face and says "it's the monitor, I can't do anything about that" and I say "It was the same monitor that was clear with that other computer fuckface!" and he runs away. how do I fix this blurry one?

EDIT: added the exclamation mark so I get quicker help ITT

the blue signal is analog and doesn't support as high a resolution as the white one... does stuff on the screen hooked up to the blue monitor look any larger or smaller than it used to?

here's the thing though. it was clear earlier with the same cable and monitor. stuff is the same size and right where I left it on the other computer.

I would tell the IT guy to just give me whatever monitor he is using and that he has to use the blurry one now.

What operating system? Probably just need to bump your screen resolution settings back up.

to be clear, you are running 2 monitors and they are not the exact same monitor?

your IT guy sounds like a dumbass then.  probably pretty common for him to have to tweak the resolution/display settings on your new computer to get it "back to what i was used to on the old machine" (doubt the tech guys ever get it right the first time tho).

they are the same monitor but the cables are different. there is only one larger white plug and one smaller blue one on the dock.do you think I could use a spare HDMI slot on the dock and use that?

XP  :sdeek:

the laptop even has a Windows 7 sticker on it but our stuff can't use it. they intentionally caveman them before I get them.

Try right clicking on your desktop and go to "screen resolution." Then you can click on each monitor and make sure they are the max resolution. If that doesn't work, seriously just steal the IT guy's good monitor and leave your crappy one hooked up to his computer.

I already did that. only makes it crappier.

XP  :sdeek:

You may have to restart for the full resolution to be recognized though...That's windows xp for ya.
