I'm glad no one on this board pretends that Nirvana was ever anything more than an average band

They were quite important to the musical climate, and had some really good songs. To deny that is stupid. The musicianship from Krist and Dave is really great.

I don't think anyone here hates them, we just agree that they're outside the top 10.

Yeah the Offspring is way better. Have you heard "Pretty Fly for a White Guy"?

Have you ever listened to Smash from start to finish? Good grief

Yes. Many times. I had to turn down the part where he yells "You stupid dumb crap GD MOTHER ROUGH RIDER!" so my Mom wouldn't hear. Smash is OK, but no way they are a top ten band.

weve been over this before, but basically it was agreed upon by everyone with half a brain that the only reason theyre praised is because of a "tragic" (<--- yeah, in quotes, what now, bitches?) death.

I mean, they basically invented grunge (here comes 8manpick with a bunch of links to older songs that sound "grungey"). And to go from 80's hair bands with very effeminate lead singers to a dude in thrift store clothes that stands haphazardly in front of a mic stand while playing guitar was a pretty huge jump.

right, and we dont need to get into this again because i think were in agreement here but... just because you invented something doesnt mean youre the best. the list is top 10 bands, not top 10 most innovative bands. nirvana is top 15 for me, but im not some fancy music geek with a blog and all. just your average joe  :frown:
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

No argument here. I love watching Nirvana live shows, especially in the 89-91 period. The With the Lights Out set is a must watch/listen.

I like Nirvana and it has nothing to do with whether or not they were innovative or orginators of something.  Their music sounds good to my ears and brain.
My prescience is fully engorged.  It throbs with righteous accuracy.  I am sated.

nirvana changed music. so using stevesie's psycho/the shining theory, no other band from the 90's should be rated higher than them. sorry guys. invalid list. do over.

I love Weezer and Radiohead.  I'm pretty ambivalent on Greenday.  Liked their earlier stuff, not their newer stuff.

I even saw them live in college, but the only reason I went was because the foo fighters were opening and I really liked them back then.  Not so much now, much like Greenday.  Also Pearl Jam.  Like loved a bunch of their older stuff, but recently not so much.  I don't dislike it so much as it just doesn't do aything for me.  Indifferent.  Never the pepps tho.  Always just the worst.

This is a list of 8man's favorite 90's bands, not the best. If you're trying to determine the best band, song, movie, etc, then stuff like changing how movies/music were done from then on has to be taken into consideration. I don't know why you're so butthurt about this, but it's turning you into a timhawk-like poster.

I once read a review that lamented Jane's Addiction ---> Porno for Pyros was what happened when rock stars evolved from "sportfucking and heroin to yoga and tofu"
